Antique - 1920’s/1930’s - Art Deco Waterfall Dresser with bar pulls.

The backing had to be changed, large portion of veneer on front had to be scraped and sanded, pull bars had to be replaced, all new drawer slides installed and lots of bruises and bumps. She came in a mess, now she uses a cabriole on her cigarette.

Sneak peek of a new project I’m finishing up for a sweet lady in Oakland, CA. ✈️

For me, the hunt and the snag of “new” pieces is a thrill. Even after the deal is made, you never know what your gonna end up with until you start going in piece by piece. Bonus if you bring home an aged piece from the city and find that it’s from one of the first pre-fabricated furniture stores in the French Quarter. Inside the door is hand written in pencil ‘Mintz Goldblum 10/10/42”. I always wonder what types of garments have hung in these old cedar chifferobe over the years.

Transformation Tuesday.

Going to sweet local couple for their new castle. This is a 1948 original Goldblum-Mintz piece from South Rampart Street. Updated to a modern grungy yet classy and dramatic ombré with black interior. Not sure why, but during this process I kept thinking “Mary Shelley”.

This sweet client asked for bright colors like a sunrise, with a little bit of boho and a little bit of beach. On its way to Santa Monica, Ca. (Laura)

Mixing the perfect bone color to give an old broken skull sculpture a re-birth.

This handsome piece is headed to a lake house in Wisconsin. Sometimes the success of a refurbished piece depends on its condition prior to its reform. This chest was in awesome shape and needed only minor adjustments. Combined with a local flexible shipper, and an open minded client, who referred to the results as “THRILLING”, made this transaction seamless and smooth as butta. Now, onto an antique wardrobe.
