I'm putting on my other artistic hat and directing and choreographing the new show I wrote for the National WWII Museum's new Songbook Series. Cole Porter is the first featured songwriter. We open tomorrow. Tonight we perform with a preview audience for a $10 ticket price. 7:30 curtain! Come on out BB's Stage Door Canteen on Magazine Street.

It's part of the Tennessee Williams Festival
The lyricists crafting words for their Tin Pan Alley songs told their stories in 32 bar refrains. These wordsmiths didn’t have the length of a Tennessee Williams play to set the mood but used words floating on melodies to charm and engage the mind of the listeners.

Banu sings and shares insights with David Boeddinghaus on piano, Ray Moore on clarinet and tenor sax, and Ed Wise on bass.

To all of my friends who are members of NARAS, (the Grammys) I would be honored "For Your Consideration" of my CD "By Myself" that has made it into the Best Jazz Vocal Album category for the first round of voting! Also Rex Gregory, who played clarinet/sax on the CD is in the Best Improvised Jazz Solo category.

Jazz chanteuse Banu Gibson, with pianist David Boeddinghaus, will be appearing, in concert, at the Theater Arts Building Auditorium at Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, Sunday, March 19th. from 2 to 4pm. They will be accompanied by a band of all-stars, including Jon Mathis, Scott A Silbert, Brooks Tegler, Tommy Cecil, and David Sager.

If you're in New Orleans, I'm singing at the Bombay Club 830 Conti starting at 8 PM with David Boedinghaus at the piano. We will be swinging the American Songbook.

Possibly put the final edits on my new CD! I'll know on Wednesday if it needs any more tweaks! Fingers crossed that it will be ready for pressing!

My high school graduation present was a trip to New Orleans where I first saw Pete Fountain in his club on Bourbon Street and managed to get an autograph. (very faded now) How could I have imagined that I would share the bill with him in the future and be one of the select musicians allowed to sit in with his band. Thanks for your kindness Pete
