Congratulations on having a meaningful talk about improving police and community relations last January 25, !

We're having a real conversation tonight with the Delray Beach police department.
Engaging law enforcement BEFORE there is a crises can mitigate the crises from happening.
All hands on deck to improve police and community relations.
Wise words, !

When I see my wife Anna in uniform, I see the shattering of long-accepted glass ceilings. I'm encouraged and see a pathway for more women to push through the rankings and achieve what wasn't attainable due to discriminatory barriers. I am inspired by her determination and hard work to lead with excellence and serve as a role model for young women.
I look forward to the day that little girls fueled with hopes and dreams will never know the existence of glass ceilings because we have worked hard and done our jobs to shatter them. I share my wife's determination and will continue to join women in bringing these attainable goals to fruition.
Brigadier General Ana Carter, thank you for being my rock and an inspiration to so many.
Shoutout to one of the most respected and admired actors for the very well deserved award.

Today I joined the Criminal Justice Roundtable hosted by Mayor Cantrell. I highlighted the importance of partnership to increase safety and justice as well as the work we must do during the pandemic to improve technology, support services, and prioritization of violent crime.
We totally agree brother, and we can't wait for that day.

Today on a day when a new President signs executive orders trying to right the housing discrimination issue that set blacks and people of color back with regard to wealth creation, I'm reminded that oftentimes the fight for equity is one where those in the trenches never see the outcomes of the work. It can be thankless and tiring. I do know one thing for sure, there will come a day where black people and all people are provided their Inalienable right to life, liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness.

"As I got older and deeper into my educational and professional career, I realized that my white peers got to study to be teachers, social workers, medical professionals, lawyers, artists, business people, parents, and engineers. My Black peers however, were asked to be Black teachers, Black social workers, Black medical professionals, Black lawyers, Black artists, Black business people, Black parents, and Black engineers. We were never allowed to just do our jobs, just study, or just show up and silently participate. We were and are always asked to also be the voice and the representation of our people, even in ways that we may not identify. We must exist in a reality that is nothing less than an intense, internalized intersectionality that is truly indescribable unless you've lived it. Did we ask for this? No. But, must we embody it anyway? Yes.
A friend once told me that her dad told her she just needed to go to school and study. He asked "Are your white peers being asked to speak on diversity committees? Are your white peers helping to revamp professors' syllabi? Are your white peers mentoring incoming students from underrepresented backgrounds? Or are they allowed to just study and do well? Are they allowed to just be students?"
Would I be passionate about social services and community-based connection work if I wasn't Black? I don't know. But, it's too late to think about that. For now, I am existing while Black and watching myself and my friends, family, colleagues, and community exist while Black. And, I know one thing for sure--living to see my loved ones and greater Black community do anything less than thrive is a disservice to us all. So, I choose to do this work. And, I will choose it again and again until all of us are free."
