Starting this evening, many Jews around the world will observe Tisha B'Av, a solemn day in the Hebrew calendar where we mark the many tragedies that befell the Jewish people throughout history.

This year, the day holds an even deeper significance as we reflect on the painful events of October 7th and the ongoing war.

This Tisha B'Av and in the days and months ahead, may we counter the baseless hatred (sinat chinam) that has been at the root of our individual and collective suffering and do our part to fill the world, one act at a time, with boundless love (ahavat chinam).

Each year, a number of Young Judaea Year Course in Israel participants make the brave decision to join the IDF upon completing the program. Between Year Course 2022-23 and 2023-24 there were 21 participants who enlisted. Kol hakavod and b'hatzlacha to you all! 🇮🇱

What an incredible year for YJ Teens! During one of the most difficult years for the Jewish community, YJ Teens rose to the occasion - gathering, growing and meeting the moment. In the Young Judaea way, YJ Teens created opportunities for critical thinking, deep feeling, and Jewish joy - sometimes all at the same time.

Jewish summer camp has never been more needed; this summer is proving just that. YJ camps are in full swing, and campers are embracing connections with their Jewish peers (many of whom are Israeli), proudly displaying their Jewish identities and love of Israel, and plain old having fun (in the unique YJ way of course, with rikud and shira).

In Israel, Gesher participants are balancing fun and safe touring throughout Israel while learning about the impact of the war and helping where they can. In Tel Aviv, Amirim and Onward participants are interning in a variety of fields ranging from sports marketing to AI-generated fashion. Stay tuned for more updates on YJ Summer 💙💚🦁

This past weekend Camp Tel Yehudah held a special day dedicated to remembering and celebrating the lives of the four TY campers and staff who died on and after October 7th, and make a plea for the release of all remaining hostages including Omer Neutra, Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake alum. The day included a powerful memorial museum, dance, and song. Gili Adar’s parents attended the day, and the camp held them in one big embrace.

We are grateful for our strong and supportive YJ community. Together, we heal. 💙

Young Judaea Gesher Israel in Jerusalem!

We're heading into week two with Young Judaea Gesher Israel and couldn't be more excited! 🇮🇱

Highlights so far have included spending time at קיבוץ קטורה - Kibbutz Ketura riding bikes and painting in the desert, touring Machtesh Ramon, and spending a magical Shabbat in Jerusalem!

Camp looks and feels a little different this year with yellow ribbons hanging to recognize those still held hostage, including CYJ Sprout Lake alumnus, Omer Neutra.
