"The new dawn blooms as we free it. For there is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it." - Amanda Gorman ✨
Yesterday was an inspiring and historic moment for America, and a reminder of just how beautiful our nation's capital really is. Our city is home to world-class museums, charming neighborhoods, Michelin-starred restaurants, Go-Go music, eclectic street art and more, in addition to being the national stage for the federal government. This fact sets DC apart from any other big city, but it's also what brings us all together and unifies our country. ❤️ When the time is right, we are excited to welcome you to the nation's capital, and show you the real DC while you're here.

“If you want to become a real New Yorker, there’s only one rule: You have to believe New York is, has been, and always will be the greatest city on earth. The center of the universe.” Ellen R. Shapiro⠀⠀

The moon rises in gorgeous light from the setting sun, and another day makes the shift to night at White Sands National Park in New Mexico. Photographer Ian Beckley found himself between the sunset and the moonrise and captured this stunning moment of transition. "I have been to White Sands so many times, and that was the first time I had seen the moon rising at the same time as the sun was setting over the park." It's incredible how we can visit a park again and again but still receive so many unexpected delights. Photo courtesy of Ian Beckley.

Sunset at Death Valley National Park in California is a magical time. The retreating sun mutes the shadowed ripples and graceful curves of the sand dunes while the day’s last light focuses on the mountaintops. Here, a rogue white cloud wanders in to enjoy the view. Photo courtesy of Sandra Slead.
