We are excited to share that our MET Orchestra Musicians have donated $17,000 directly to the National Opera House of Ukraine. Donations from the Met Orchestra, the Met’s music staff, and a significant contribution from Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin were raised with the hope that it will inspire other musical institutions around the world to join this vital fundraising initiative and collect donations for Ukrainian musicians, orchestras, and musical organizations.

We also encourage continued donations to relief efforts, which can be made through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine website.

"HOW TO CHOOSE A MONOLOGUE FOR ANY AUDITION"
[email protected]

Dear Actors,
This free class shows you
1) how to find great monologues, that are
2) great for YOU, and
3) great for specific auditions

I'll also talk about
• How and how not to use monologue books
• Tips on making good cuts and edits
• The "Hello, This is Me" monologue, and why it's incredibly valuable for making first impressions on agents/managers/casting directors
• Fun and effective non-play monologue resources, and when you can use them
• The maximum length a monologue should be
• Whether or not you should do "story" monologues (I have a strong opinion and it's not what you might expect)
• When and when not to use "overdone" monologues
• How you can (actually!) have fun building a monologue repertoire that shows the industry your castability, strengths, stretches, and dream roles
• Tips for self taping monologues and using them as content for your website and pages on casting sites
• Answers to any questions you have 🙂
I'll follow up with a list of ways to find great monologues online.
And, everyone who attends can send me a monologue (taped, or just the text) for free feedback during the following week. Join us!

“Taking this class was one of the best things that I could have done to truly advance as an actor during quarantine. Having more monologues taught me more about the roles that I connect most deeply with, and the process that I learned from this course gave me a framework that will help me execute every time I pick a new one up. One of the most redeeming parts of this class is being held accountable and having polished work that you can have in your back pocket. Go Karen!” ERIC CHENG
