As we all grapple with an often frightening and dehumanized world- we have tried in our own way to celebrate and honor what gives us hope- so 2023 was a year where we proudly expanded our Harlem is.. healing outdoor exhibit- visited by countless community youth and visitors from around the world. We also continued to grow our Harlem is website chronicling our 25 year history of documenting the cultural history of Harlem. This year adding the Gospel Tradition honoring Harlem’s 4 churches at the center of the migration and the remarkable current faith leaders who have made a significant contribution to Harlems history And proudly we continued to expand our virtual interview programming with dialogues with wonderful leaders like Robin Bell-Stevens… and we are excited about some big happenings coming soon Thank you all for joining us on this journey. Visit now and be inspired, moved and reminded that our heroes are local people who work daily for a better community. The Harlem is… Healing outdoor exhibition, presented by Community Works and New Heritage Theatre Group, is located on St. Nicholas Avenue between 120th and 121st Streets, offering portraits and quotes from nine of 50 Harlem is. . . Healing honorees from all walks of life who have helped the community weather two years of pandemic and social justice turmoil. The exhibition will run through December 17th, 2022.
