It requires listening to the patientโ€™s body, engaging with the fascia, and allowing it to unwind. Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. When stressed, the web can tighten, distort, or shrink. By helping the fascia unwind, it creates more space and thus helps things circulate better. Pilates strikes the balance between strength and flexibility. The focus on length is one reason we feel taller after a session.
