Eight men indicted for selling guns, cocaine and meth steps away from Yankee Stadium. One defendant sold a gun to an undercover cop right before a game. A total of 11 firearms, including an AK-47, and $418,000 were recovered in investigation.

I sat down with PIX11 to discuss my support for the U.S. Surgeon General declaring gun violence a national public health crisis. Yesterday in the Bronx, a 12-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound. The U.S. Surgeon General’s advisory will focus attention and resources to keep families in our community safe.

On tomorrow’s International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jews, and members of other minorities killed under the Nazi regime. We must never forget. Our office hosted Roger Peltzman, who played the piano to honor his uncle, a pianist who was killed in Auschwitz after a screening of his documentary “Dedication.”

It is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. We are raising awareness about the crime of modern day slavery. As part of the Red Sand Project, we poured sand to fill sidewalk cracks, with the grains representing victims who go unnoticed, or “fall through the cracks.”

Hundreds joined us this weekend for our 6th Annual 5k Run/Walk/Roll to End Domestic Violence. Thank you to everyone who braved the rain to listen to the stories of survivors and to support an important cause.

These babies were used as shields to protect a narcotics operation. Little Nicolas Dominici’s death was entirely avoidable. The home daycare provider, her husband and his cousin were indicted for Murder, Assault and narcotics possession. We will remain relentless in targeting fentanyl traffickers and will investigate home childcare centers to make sure they are trustworthy and safe.
