Turner provided construction management services for the interior fit-out of JetBlue’s new corporate headquarters 27-01 Queens Plaza North in Long Island City, Queens.
The scope of work included the complete fit-out of three floors, totaling 200,000 sq. ft. as well as 30,000 sq. ft. of roof dunnage and equipment installation. The building was originally built in 1911 with an infill building added in 2003, creating two different structural systems. Turner worked around the two existing structural systems to ensure the cohesive feel of JetBlue’s three interconnecting floors.

| The Hearst Corporation Lobby
Turner provided construction management services for this 46-story glass and steel, 858,000 sq. ft. commercial office building for Hearst Corporation. The building was built within and above the original six-story Hearst office building, completed in 1928. The existing 1928 Landmark façade was restored and integrated into the tower, designed by Foster + Partners.
The structural frame, standing 598-feet tall, is enclosed with a panelized glass curtain wall system with stainless steel diagrid cladding. The triangulated steel frame uses 21% less steel than a traditionally framed building, saving 2,000 tons of steel. Hearst Tower is the first commercial building in the United States to receive the Green Building tax credit, and is also registered as a New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The project achieved the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEED Gold Designation.
Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.
Thank you to our entire workforce for another week of hard work, construction never quits! If you recognize someone, tag them and thank them too!
| Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, STEAM Center

Designed by .newyork, the center features computer rooms, learning laboratories, a kitchen, and full production studio. The 6-month project was completed on behalf of the
Working alongisde Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC)'s consultants, the team carefully planned the structural upgrades to safeguard the building’s integrity prior to completing the demolition of the 6,000 sq. ft. slab on the 4th floor. The team’s pre-planning efforts extended to the fit-out of the kitchen. Due to limited ceiling height, the coordination and phasing of equipment installation was vital to ensuring the project remained on schedule.newyork

Happy Earth Day!🌎
On behalf of Empire State Development, a Lendlease / Turner joint venture with tvsdesign provided design-build services for the expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The $1.5 billion project will generate millions of dollars in new economic activity for New York City, while serving as a model of environmental efficiency and sustainability.
The 1.2 million square-foot expansion includes several innovative concepts to push the boundaries of sustainability and create a path for future initiatives. Since 2014, the Javits Center has reduced the building’s energy consumption by 26%, created a rooftop wildlife habitat and installed energy-efficient equipment throughout the structure on Manhattan’s West Side. The innovative design has enabled the expansion to achieve LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Completed in 1957, the scope of work included the construction of a massive headquarters building for the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company.
Designed by SOM, the building’s programming takes uniquely horizontal ex*****on, and feature landscaped gardens, new roadways and pedestrian walkways.

The 365,000 sq. ft. 18-story Science Building features two amenity floors; two specialized vivarium floors, and thirteen office, laboratory and support floors. While still in the design phase Hurricane Sandy deluged the eastside campus with 15 million gallons of water. As a result, NYU mandated the team harden the building. The team met this challenge and delivered an award-winning project.
The exterior of the building was fortified with flood walls and automated barriers at street level entryways. For additional resiliency, MEP systems were raised above the DFE and utilities from the campus’ cogeneration facility were fed across the roofs of adjacent buildings. To minimize disruption to the active campus the team prefabricated key MEP components that allowed them to successfully complete the infrastructure tie-ins without impeding NYU’s operations.
Happy Friday, New York!

Throwing it 🔙 to 1915
Located at 60 Broadway in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, Turner New York built the Gretsch Musical Instrument Factory in 1916 for The Gretsch Company, a producer of percussion instruments and guitars.
The 7-story reinforced concrete structure was erected on a 72’ by 125’ size lot and was designed by architect Benjamin Finkensieper. In 2003, the building was converted into a luxury condominium, aptly known as “The Gretsch”.
