Mel Chin's 'Signal' rededication
#TBT to the 2018 rededication of Signal, a permanent installation by #MelChin. Presented by #NoLongerEmpty, Queens Museum, Amerinda and MTA Arts & Design, the original commission inserted the Native People’s presence, as a living culture, onto the Dutch-derived tile infrastructure of the MTA station.

Signal Rededication Ceremony
A ceremony in the subway? "Signal" draws upon the history of the Broadway-Lafayette crossroads, which was once a key point in the trading route for the Iroquois Six Nations (Haudenosaunee). Members of the Six Nations will host a free, rededication ceremony on May 13 as part of Mel Chin's All Over The Place. Join us tomorrow! #openengagement #nolongerempty #queensmuseum #timessquarearts #amerinda #allovertheplace #melchin Queens Museum Times Square, New York City Amerinda Mel Chin MTA Arts & Design

LL Cool J, Hush, 2004
Need a third reason to come to Saturday’s Closing Reception of the inaugural Southeast Queens Biennial April 21? We have three dreamy words: D.J. Tam Jams... From 3-5pm, this local music goddess will narrate the history of hip hop’s roots in Jamaica, Queens, and share personal stories about the times she played alongside LL Cool J, Run DMC and Salt-N-Pepa. Soak in this free education, “an essential foundation”, and learn about historical sites like the “Hush” mural wall at the Jamaica Colosseum Mall, featured in the 2004 video seen here. #djtamjams #NLELab #NoLongerEmpty #ALocusOfMovingPoints #SEQueensBiennial #YorkCollegeFineArtsGallery #YorkCollegeCUN #NotationsInPassing #QueensLibrary

Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon with Black Lunch Table
Reason #4 to come out to the closing day events Saturday, April 21, as part of the inaugural Southeast Queens Biennial is fast, furious and LASTING. From 11am-4pm, The Black Lunch Table is hosting a Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon with the goal of adding information about important and underrepresented Queens-related artists and cultural producers to the world’s online library, A.K.A. the internet!! This event will take place in the Cyber Center at Queens Borough Public Library located at 89-11 Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens. There’s work to be done, so come energized and ready to type your heart out. #blacklunchtable #NLELab #NoLongerEmpty #ALocusOfMovingPoints #SEQueensBiennial #YorkCollegeFineArtsGallery #YorkCollegeCUNY #NotationsInPassing #QueensLibrary

For anyone who hasn’t made it to the inaugural Southeast Queens Biennial yet, our Closing Day of must-see Performance, Artist-led Workshops, a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, DJ Sessions, and Artist Talks leave no room for excuse. We’re profile the lineup this week, starting with Elizabeth Velazquez, whose new performance, “Ritual: A Tribute for the Innumerable Voids”, pays homage to the overgrown cemeteries and unmarked bodies buried on the grounds of York College’s campus. Her performance will run from approximately 2:30-3:30pm just outside the York College Fine Art Gallery entrance on Liberty Ave. between 160th and Guy Brewer Blvd. Best news of all, they’re calling for sunshine! SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, April 21, 2018. Check out the full schedule at www.nolongerempty.org. #velazquezart729 #NLELab #NoLongerEmpty #ALocusOfMovingPoints #SEQueensBiennial #YorkCollegeFineArtsGallery #YorkCollegeCUNY #NotationsInPassing #QueensLibrary
