Just a video I took quickly today to show his pawrents a little bit of training we were doing together on our walk. I especially love using all of the urban formations and obstacles in the cityscape to work them into our training so that walking isn’t boring and linear —-for either of us ! #nycdogtraining #goldenretrievers

Every day I practice a little bit of grooming with Siggy, my current board and train dog. It’s just any quiet time that we’re together-I can give him a chew toy and while he’s working on that I get my tools out and I do some “mock” grooming, where the goal isn’t to get some thing “done” – it’s more about acclimating him to the process slowly and incrementally so that it’s not something unpleasant. Siggy is a keeshound dog.
This is a short video of some free shaping. I did today with a little Chihuahua pup. This might appear deceptively simple like it’s a Fetch, but it isn’t really it’s a trained pick up and return to the mat with the toy. Free shaping is a type of training where you don’t use lures and prompts. You mostly start with behaviors that the dog is offering to you and train them in increments to a finished behavior. 🩵 I’m a huge fan of it because I find it in interesting, and the more you do it the faster it goes for every successive thing you teach your pup. #freeshaping #clickertraining #puptraining #chihuahuasofinstagram #doinkdoesit

Here’s an example of how I keep dogs busy when I’m taking care of them and give them positive outlets for their energy.
DOG TRAINING TRICKS that make sense: 😝 Step-in harnesses can be the BANE of your existence if you haven’t trained your dog to stand still to get it on them. You could use a hack like this one and teach your dog to jump into the harness with their front paws on their own. I also typically prefer teaching a small dog to jump up on a stool or on the sofa, so that I don’t have to bend over to put the harness on them every time that’s really a lifesaver for your back! ✅ Personally, I prefer over the head under the belly clip, kind of harnesses-or the ones where you only have to lift one paw up, and it still goes over the head and clips on the side, or under the belly, but to each his own! #dogtraining #minischnauzersofinstagram #dogsafetytips
