On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we reminisce about August 28, 2004, when the Eagle Academy marked a defining historical moment. Exactly 41 years after Dr. King. delivered his iconic ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, our original mentors met our first cohort of Eagle students at Alpine Park. That day, as 115 young men and mentors gathered, we didn’t just embark on a summer trip; we initiated a legacy. Today, as our original alums are quickly approaching the age Dr. King was when he left us, we’re reminded of the urgency of our mission. Inspired by Dr. King’s dream, we continue to uplift, educate, and empower, creating leaders who will forge a path of equality and excellence. This June, we find ourselves not only in the midst of graduation season but also at a time of reflection and celebration. Today, we are calling out a journey of triumph close to our hearts - our very own alumnus, Jordan Pierre, from the Eagle Academy for Young Men at Ocean Hill, Class of 2019. Jordan recently graduated from Syracuse University, where he took the stage and delivered an inspirational speech, leaving an indelible mark on the Syracuse University - Newhouse School of Communications, and now, the world. His powerful words echo the resilience, determination, and courage our school leaders, educators and staff aim to instill in every young man of the Eagle Academy. As we congratulate Jordan on this momentous achievement, we also stand at the precipice of a wave of graduations across the Eagle Network. Our young men, ready to take on the world, are crossing the threshold into a new chapter of their lives. Their time at Eagle Academy has equipped them with the fortitude to face life’s challenges and the ambition to reach new heights. In celebrating Jordan and all our graduating seniors in high school and college, we highlight not just their victories but also the strength it takes to achieve them. This is a testament to the Eagle Academy Foundation’s mission to empower our young men. During this graduation season, let us take a moment to appreciate how far our students have come and anticipate the incredible journeys they’re about to embark upon.
