TANGO TECH 🔥 Challenges In Hot Sauce Manufacturing Attempting to manufacture high-grade chile sauce even at low commercial scale comes with many challenges. One of those challenges is, of course, consistent fill-level in every bottle The hydraulic piston in our filling machine, however, is so active (sometimes filling 1 bottle every 4 seconds) that consistent lubrication is effectively impossible, leading to imprecise fill levels. This means that when the sauce level in the bottle is too low, we have to manually top it off, and when it’s too high we risk an overflow, which is worst case scenario because it wastes materials and anything that stops our filling and packing flow momentum is expensive. Just one 5-10 minute bottle overflow probably costs over $100 all things considered. We’re saving for a new filler, but they’re extremely expensive. Since we’re already topping off the low-level bottles, our temporarily solution for the overall variation in fill levels has been to dial down the filler by .25 fl oz, so every bottle comes out low, and we top them ALL off manually. The dialed-down difference is large enough to accomodate the variation in fill level, which eliminates overflow risk, and allows us to move much more quickly on the filler, even though we have twice as many bottles to top off. Overall this makes more sense as it’s more efficient long term to avoid any interruptions. We’ll have a better filler soon, but what’s most important is that every bottle we make today comes out perfect, even if it takes us a little longer to get it right. #hotsauce #manufacturer #bottle #sauce #smallbusiness
