After a delayed start and moving fields around, the Open Conference wrapped up its season today! We're glad the geese got a front row seat to some games from the fields we were supposed to use.

inducted into the ASANA Hall of Fame! 🌟 This is a well-deserved recognition for a true legend in our community who has been an example
of dedication, leadership, and passion for the game.

Lola has been a cornerstone of the BASL since 2003, racking up an impressive list of accolades, including:

🏆 2012 ASANA C Division Champions as both Manager and Player
🥈 2019 ASANA C Division 2nd Place finish
🌟 Liberty Bell Classic Champions in 2012
🏅 2023 & 2024 Mousseau League Champions
🥎 Participation in numerous tournaments for ASANA and BASL

But Lola’s impact goes beyond the field. She’s not only a top-notch player and manager of the Silent Assassins but also a dedicated coach at the BASL Skills Clinic, a Mousseau Division Rep, and an invaluable supporter of local leagues with her training sessions and recruitment assistance. And let’s not forget her BBQs during playoffs/season, creating a family-friendly and fun atmosphere for everyone! 🍔🔥

Already inducted into the BASL Hall of Fame in 2023, Lola’s induction into the ASANA Hall of Fame is a testament to her unwavering
commitment and unparalleled contributions to our sport. Here’s to celebrating Lola, a true icon in our community!

From now through Saturday, July 20th, the NYC Ferries will be hosting our 2nd Annual community drive for our beneficiary organization: Bluestockings. For those who don’t know, Bluestockings is a LGBTQ+ owned worker cooperative in the lower east side that operates as a bookstore, café, and vital community resource center.

The Ferries support their robust mutual aid program, mainly by stocking their FREE COMMUNITY STORE. The aid program provides food, clothing, hygiene products, medicine/first aid supplies, gender-affirming resources (like binders and make up), harm reduction tools, and other essentials for the most marginalized in our communities.

Bluestockings has three ways that BASL members and friends can help:

� Become a regular member of their bookstore/cafe

� Donate items from their Amazon wishlist to stock their free store (shipped directly to them

� Donate money directly to their mutual aid efforts (tax-deductible)

Ferries will be at the fields on Saturday, July 13th & July 20th to come visit your teams, share our excitement about this community work, ask for donations. BASL is proud to spotlight DIMA Division's Arsenal player, Jonah Newman

Jonah is a writer, artist, baseball fan, and passionate BASL softball player. His debut graphic novel Out of Left Field, published March 26, is based on his experiences playing baseball and coming of age as a gay teenager. Although his teammates' casual homophobia compelled him to stay in the closet in high school, he came out in college and has since been thrilled to find a way to continue playing his favorite sport without having to deal with all the homophobia and toxic masculinity: Big Apple Softball League! Jonah has played in BASL since 2018, and every year, he looks forward to his summer Saturdays on Randall's Island, playing ball and hanging out with teammates and friends.
