Many people assume that because a child is under the age of one or two, there’s nothing to be gained from enrolling him (or her) in a music class. It’s hard for them to imagine what a baby will do in music class, and how they would be able to engage, participate, or benefit at all. But imagine, if you will, that we adopted that same attitude about speaking to young children, or reading to them. Imagine if we said, “well--my baby is not physically able to form words yet, so we might as well not speak to him” or “my two-year-old little girl is unable to read yet, so there’s no point in reading to her!” 😲 Can you imagine that? We would never do that! Most people understand that it’s very important to speak to their babies because it builds their language and communication skills. Many people realize that reading to your baby can help them develop early literacy skills. . . . Music learning is much like language learning, but it takes time! Your child will benefit and learn volumes from seeing and hearing you sing, and move to the beat, enjoying making music, as an everyday occurrence in your household, just like walking, talking, reading, and writing! . . .
