One week ago, “Moses” parted the red sea of Regis fans during the CHSAA varsity basketball Class B state title game. This week, he stopped by a team meeting and brought our champs to a surprise celebration for them in the upper gym.

Regis held its 23rd annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony tonight, with students, family members, faculty, and staff on hand to spread holiday cheer and see the tree light up the Quad. More than 650 people registered for this year's event, with attendees gathering in the Quad as well as the library overlooking it. This year's tree was selected by members of Regis's Student Government, and all students were encouraged to donate an ornament to help decorate it. The Engineering Club also designed several 3D-printed ornaments and created their own circuit boards to illuminate them. This year, the Owl mascot was invited to flip the switch to light the tree as onlookers holding candles surrounded it. bit.ly/3RvCImB

REACH is a tuition-free program that depends on the generosity of its supporters. As we conclude our REACH Appreciation Day celebration, we wanted to share a message from some of the program’s students.

“REACH showed me that there was a bigger world out there and that I deserve to be part of that world, too,” says REACH alumnus Richard Gonzalez ‘16.

The REACH Program unlocks opportunities for its students as they approach high school. Parent Gladys Arzola shares how her son has grown since beginning at REACH.

REACH is a transformative experience for students that challenges them academically and allows them to learn in an environment where it’s cool to be smart. Parent Lori Jones shares what the program has done for her son.

Today at Regis, we’re celebrating our sixth annual REACH Appreciation Day. It’s an opportunity for the wider school community to learn more about this incredible program and to support our students, our dedicated staff, and our Graduate Support Program. To kick things off, hear from Russell Quiñones '09, the new Director of the REACH Program. REACH has transformed the lives of more than 500 Catholic, middle school-aged boys by helping them earn scholarships to Regis and other top Catholic high schools in New York City. REACH’s purpose is to strengthen learning and development for high-achieving young men who come from families facing significant economic hardships and other challenges. As we shine a spotlight on REACH today, we ask the members of our community to consider making a gift directly to the program. To donate, visit regis.org/GiveToREACH.

Our seniors have made their way into the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola to begin this year’s graduation exercises. In just a short while, the young men of the Class of 2023 will officially become Regis alumni!
