· to be a bridge between the catechumen or candidate and the parish community
· to share with the catechumen or candidate the practices, traditions, and prayers of our Catholic tradition

Tomorrow, join Christians around the world as we celebrate the Season of Creation from September 1, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, to October 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. The theme for this year is "To hope and act with Creation."

St Francis Xavier is a member of the Metro NY Catholic Climate Movement, a chapter of the Laudato Si' Movement.

At the Masses during this Season, our prayers of petition and our post-communion pledge to care for Creation will remind us of our spiritual hope and intentions.

Seeking Sustainability Professionals:
Our parish is a Laudato Si' parish, meaning we adopted the Laudato Si' Action Platform and developed a plan to green our parish and promote ecological spirituality. A small committee of lay persons and staff from the church, Xavier Mission and Xavier High School work together to implement our 3-year action plan. The committee is seeking additional lay volunteers who have some level of experience with sustainability issues. Interested persons should email committee chair Kevin Tuerff at [email protected].

If you have not seen it on the news, there was a fire in the Hollywood Diner building yesterday. Luckily, there were no deaths.
We pray for everyone effected, especially the staff of the diner.
For many decades the Hollywood has been the go-to place for many neighbors and Xavier parishioners.

Gene Sullivan was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. 🙏
