Thinking of these ladies on this particular October Friday. Friendship is important to me. Having friends that I truly love is critical to my wellbeing. Friends connecting, meeting up and checking in on one another is a lifeline, especially during these times. I like these pics from a summer 2024 afternoon with these special women. 🙏🏾

Long story short, we ended up where we should have started. Whew! What matters most is our client is happy! We began with a chic professional range from another prominent high end brand (not naming names), but after installing two versions of the same model, that just didn’t function well, our client was "done" and really wanted the Wolf professional range. Not sure if we unluckily received duds, but nevertheless, our client was not thrilled with the broiler performance of the range from the original competitor. Or was it it’s fancy European technology that kept shutting off the broiler? Don’t know? But we do know our client loves the signature red k***s and is excited to enjoy years of professional-level cooking from their new range, arguably one of the best on the market.

Lesson: When it comes to purchasing a high-end range, you want to make sure you get exactly what you want. Value in an appliance is found in how well it performs and how long it lasts.

We love encouraging our clients to bring authentic treasures and artisan pieces back from their travels. We feel it helps to infuse their homes with things they love! Although, they hire use to help guide design decisions, it’s important their personal domain, reflects their unique personality and preferences. When we can’t be with them on these travel excursions, we definitely provide them with a roadmap of authentic artisan items to look out for in the locales they visit. And, we love it even more when our clients "WhatsApp" us to get our opinions, thoughts, and green light on pieces before they proceed with the purchase…as a favorite east coast client did in this case!

While visiting Granada, Spain, our globetrotting clients visited an authentic family run artisan studio that specializes in the traditional Granadino craftsmanship called Taracea! Isn’t this handmade hexagonal inlaid Taracea table delightful?

Running around St. Louis in my dad’s Volvo. Once my dad became more established in his career, I’ve never known him to own any other car brand besides Volvo, except for that one time he owned a Saab. My favorite Volvo model he owned was the 240 series in rust brick red! Such a classic! I wish he still had it. It’s funny, but I think I now realize why I am so attracted to Swedish made products and Scandinavian design. I get it from my dad! Even though, he is no longer driving, I get why he doesn’t want to part or sell his Volvo. It’s part of his identity and self expression, the successful life he built for himself and his family, and it represents in some small manner, his ethos.

Also, I love this shot with the sun setting over downtown Clayton, Missouri in the back drop. Clayton is one of my favorite cities in St. Louis County. After my dad retired from a 25 year career with IBM, he continued his career in technology at another corporation in Clayton (one of his favorite locales). If I ever had to move back to St. Louis, it would definitely be on the wish list neighborhoods to live. See my next reel to get a sense of the neighborhood. It’s definitely one of the more liberal areas of St. Louis. It has a very east coast vibe. And to give you some perspective…Andy Cohen of Bravo’s The Real Housewives Franchise is originally from Clayton, Missouri. Anywho, thanks for engaging with my random musings.

I love starting my day gazing at a small landscape oil painting on canvas by my mother, fine artist, B. Toler Turner ! I intentionally hung it in my kitchen, juxtaposed near my coffee station. See slide 2 for close-up image of the painting. I think every kitchen should be decorated with some art, even better if it’s original! My mom completed this beauty in 1981, so I guess that makes it a vintage piece. I love art. I love vintage. And I love using my navy blue . My morning coffee routine only got better!

Have a great day!

The recently closed and groundbreaking Met exhibition entitled Harlem Renaissance, has me thinking about artworks by my own mother, fine artist Betty Toler Turner . Many of her own works depict images from African American life and scenes from the black diaspora. I feel very lucky to have grown up surrounded by my mom’s artistic influences and talent. Being able to see the birth and creation of original artwork was and is a gift. The image in my post is of a favorite oil painting by my mother, portraying a young Black/African-American woman sitting at a table in a manner of reflective thinking.

Camera ready. Someone is always watching! Caught on camera waiting to enter the Ken Fulk keynote presentation during my trip to Nantucket Island, Massachusetts for the annual this summer. During the q&a, shared many wonderful affirming nuggets of wisdom regarding his journey as a noted designer. To reach his status of success, I found him to be one of the most relatable and surprisingly modest designers I have met.

Adding new custom-made interior doors designed to fit the unique openings in our client’s older mid-century home makes all the difference. Did you know investing in new architectural trim, doors, and millwork can increase the personality, depth, and intrinsic value to a home?

Also, we’re really into these natural earthen clay colors, lately. But, don’t fret, more layers of rich earthy saturated hues are downloading.

Good morning and happy weekend. This is one of my favorite original artworks in my collection by my mother, fine artist B. Toler Turner . It always reminds me that women and particularly black women have the right to seize moments of peace, rejuvenation, rest, and solitude. This piece is not currently on display in my home, but it remains in my rotation.

Yesterday, I took a few hours to visit the , , , walk the , and grab dinner with a friend. Seizing these moments and allowing myself to get from behind my desk, electronic communications and my usual interior design job related tasks gave me the space to be inspired, replenish my soul, and gain new perspective.

Stay tuned or check my stories for my favorite art fair moments!

I wanted to post a Happy Birthday wish to my little niece yesterday! She turned 9 yesterday. She is our family’s Valentine’s week blessing.

This little lady has a passion for dance (she started at age 3). On her birthday yesterday, she had her first adjudication for ballet in a line-up with much older girls. She barely made the age requirement! She danced in front of a panel of judges for her first classical piece that she has been working on for the last few months. She was nervous going in, but after talking with her dance teacher and closing her eyes to say a prayer, she ended up doing a great job. She was proud of herself. And it goes without saying, that her family is super proud! I’m in awe of kids who take on challenges and spread their wings to fly and soar. Because you never know where the journey will take them. ❤️🙏🏾

I just love these dance photos of my little MKT!!!

Happy 116th Founder’s Day to the ladies and my Sorors of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Today we honor the Original Nine Founders of . These pioneering Howard University students laid the foundation of sisterhood that sparked the now global organization’s mission of "Service to All Mankind".

Well over a century later, Alpha Kappa Alpha boasts more than 1064 chapters, more than 355,000 initiated members in 11 nations and all 50 states. Many years ago when I was a late teenager in college while attending , I along with 4 other young women, founded and initiated the charter of , the first citywide/statewide undergraduate chapter in Providence, RI and surrounding counties. Becoming a member of this historic organization is one of the best decisions I have made. Taking the initiative to help petition and charter a chapter took intention, courage, determination, leadership, patience, and vision.

I love the current administration’s theme of "Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood", as well as the 6 program initiatives. See slides.

There is no sisterhood like an AKA sisterhood!
