Baritones tend to have major denting problems in the the top crook, bottom bow, and the side of the body tube due to the weight of the instrument itself. This baritone is an exception and has no denting in those problematic areas. There is no major scratching as well with the exception of an identification number associated with maybe an organization or school. The number is very lightly etched in and is hardly visible. It is clear that this baritone was very well cared for by its previous owner. It was just freshly overhauled by its owner not at our shop but was given a full comb through by us to ensure that it is playing and sealing perfectly. This horn is interestingly stamped Lefluer London. Conn’s production, located in the U.S., would ship some overseas. This particular distributer, Lefluer, stamped their marking on the bell of this Conn permanently indicating where the horn was sold. It is American engraved, but the engravings are quite shallow due to a previous relacquering / buffing in the lacquer stripping process. The horn itself is in great condition. The bottom bow is free from major denting and the neck has pull down or signs of pull down. This horn has been fairly recently overhauled by another shop, but has been fully combed through by our shop to ensure it is sealing and playing perfectly! We have just given it a full extensive COA and it seals beautifully from top to bottom. The body tube is nice and straight there are no dents or dings even in the bottom bow, and the Neck is original to the horn and has never been pulled down! Selmer SBAs have an absolutely gorgeous and sweet sounding warm core to the sound and a wonderful warmness that is difficult to describe. Intonation is nearly textbook flawless. The action on this alto is light and smooth and the keys are very ergonomically placed with the radially rotated lower stack (compared to the previous Balanced Action Altos).
