▫️Not Removing Makeup Before Bed•Why It’s Bad: Sleeping in makeup can clog pores, leading to breakouts and dull skin. It also prevents your skin from repairing itself overnight, which is a crucial time for skin rejuvenation.•Better Habit: Always cleanse your face before bed, even if you’re not wearing makeup, to remove dirt, oil, and other impurities.▫️Popping Pimples•Why It’s Bad: Popping pimples can push bacteria deeper into the skin, leading to more severe acne, scarring, and infections.•Better Habit: Avoid touching or picking at your skin. Instead, treat pimples with spot treatments containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.▫️Over-Exfoliating •Why It’s Bad: Exfoliating too often or using harsh exfoliants can strip the skin of its natural oils, cause irritation, and lead to a compromised skin barrier, making your skin more prone to infections and sensitivity.•Better Habit: Limit exfoliation to 1-3 times per week, depending on your skin type, and use gentle exfoliants.▫️Hot Water Showers•Why It’s Bad: Hot water strips the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness, irritation, and potentially exacerbating conditions like eczema.•Better Habit: Use lukewarm water when cleansing your face and showering. Moisturize immediately after washing to lock in hydration.▫️Sleeping on Dirty Pillowcases•Why It’s Bad: Pillowcases collect dirt, oil, sweat, and bacteria, which can transfer back onto your skin, leading to breakouts and irritation.•Better Habit: Change your pillowcases regularly, at least once a week, and consider using silk or satin pillowcases to reduce friction on your skin.

Every person who has a surgical wound has a risk of dehiscence, especially in the first two weeks after surgery, when the tissue is still weak and not completely healed. Wound dehiscence occurs when the edges along the suture line start to separate and the wound reopens instead of healing closed as planned. Surgical debridement is typically performed to treat wound dehiscence by removing the dead or infected tissue to enable better healing of the wound. Next the wound can be closed with the appropriate surgical technique or a skin substitute can be used to help the tissue granulate and close. Skin substitutes are used to aid in wound closure and replace the skin function to promote healing of the wound. Using skin substitutes has been shown to accelerate wound healing with fewer complications from infection and dehydration. Additionally, skin substitutes provide more functionality and flexibility to wound sites. #premierdermde #skinhairnails #delawaredermatology #skincancerremoval #postmohssurgery #beforeandafter #delaware #woundhealing #sunprotection #skinscreening
