Avery County High School would like to invite all First Responders and our Military
Veterans to come and watch our Avery Vikings take on the Bessemer Yellow Jackets.
The game will be held on a Friday Night, under the lights, on September 6 th , 2024. All
First Responders and Military Veterans will receive free admission, a meal provided with
the help of our Avery High School JROTC and Hospitality / Culinary departments, as
well as being recognized at center field, presenting our new giant 50’ by 30’ American
flag during the playing of the National Anthem.
Time-Line:
5:30pm : Meals being served (Chicken, Hamburgers and Hotdogs,
3 sides will be served as well as a variety of deserts)
6:45pm: First Responders and Veterans who are willing and able, are invited to be a
part of the playing of the National Anthem and will be recognized at center field
7:00pm-10:00 pm: Kickoff

Please come and help support our Avery Vikings in allowing our community to celebrate
your service.

Registration is open for all YMCA fall youth recreation programs for students in grades pre-K – 5th grade. Fall Recreation programs include rec soccer, swim team, SPIRIT dance program and club basketball. Monday, August 26th is the last day to sign up for some of these programs. Attention Parents and Guardians:
Message recieved from the Avery County Sheriff's office.
On 13 of August at approximately 1130pm, the Avery County Sheriff’s Office were notified by the State Bureau of Investigation in reference to a social media post of a potential threat of violence directed at the campus of Avery County High School. Detectives along with Patrol Deputies with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into the threat in an effort to determine the credibility and locate the individuals involved. Detectives were able to identify all the individuals related to the post and determine that there is NO immediate danger to any students, faculty or the school at this time.
The Avery County Sheriff’s Office will have additional personnel at Avery High School on Wednesday August 14. Please know and understand that the Avery County Sheriff’s Office along with the Avery County School System treat any and all threats directed at our schools, faculty or students very serious and they will be thoroughly vetted.

Attention Parents: Reminder! We are so pleased to announce that Breakfast and Lunch are Free for the 2024-2025 school year through the CEP grant for our district. Please take advantage of this great benefit for our children. This is for a complete reimbursable meal.

We have attached updated ala carte' prices if your child chooses not to get a complete meal. There will be no charging allowed for the ala carte extra sales items. You may put money in your child's account with Linq Connect online payments or you may pay the manager at your child's school to allow for extra sale ala carte' items.

Season athletic passes for Avery County High School can now be purchased for the 2024-2025 school year. Adult passes are $80, student passes are $25, and parking passes are $75. Crossnore Elementary would like to thank all of the parents and community members who helped with our "Field & Fun" day today! We want to give a special shout out to South Valley Garden Center, LLC in Altamont for being our first business to participate and say an immediate "YES!" when asked. A huge thank you to our PTO for providing water slide bounce houses for the afternoon as well! We had tons of parent, retiree, and community volunteers but don't want to miss anyone so we won't name each of them individually here. Please know we are SO thankful for you!

Note from the Superintendent: Congratulations to the Class of 2024!

The 2023-2024 school year has quickly come to an end and all students will be departing for the short summer break. This Friday evening, we are excited to celebrate the achievements of around 161 graduates from Avery County High School. These students will proudly walk across the stage to receive their high school diplomas. We want to extend congratulations to each and every graduate as you finish up your time in K-12 and step into the next phase of your lives. We are incredibly proud of all our graduating seniors and wish you the very best as you move forward.

As we head into the summer break, let's take a moment to keep all our graduates, students, families, and everyone in our school community in our thoughts and prayers. May God continue to watch over and protect each of you and our wonderful school system.
