Talking about lip filler specifically: Many factors can contribute to lip filler migrating away from its original injection site. These include multiple lip filler sessions over a short period of time, over-filling, injections being performed by inexperienced injector, and sometimes simply spread from the high activity of this area (think about how much talking, smiling, and chewing you do). Although uncommon, over time migration can happen. The good news is that hyaluronic acid (HA) based fillers can be dissolved with a product called Hyaluronidase. This is a soluble protein enzyme that works by breaking up the bonds that hold the HA molecules together. It encourages the body to reabsorb those molecules in a natural process that it knows how to do on its own. If you suspect that your lip fillers have migrated, you’ll want to address the issue promptly. We recommend scheduling a consultation with an experienced injector.
