Our final graduate is Brady Sykes, who graduated with a degree in communications. After dropping CNU two years ago, Brady was determined to return this semester and finish his degree. Brady’s given a lot to the team during his time with us, serving as the recruitment chair on the team’s executive board. Following graduation, Brady intends to move from the 757 to Northern Virginia to pursue a career. Throughout our Spring season, Brady has inspired the younger team members, and we are incredibly proud of his accomplishments!
William Chapman is graduating after three years with the team. During that time, Chappie played lock and built up a reputation as one of the hardest-hitting members of the team. Chappie has graduated cm laud and physics, chemistry, science, and engineering honors, achieving a BS in cybersecurity. Over the Summer he will be starting an internship at NASA. Chappie is a glowing example of how ruggers aren’t dumb!
One of our longest-tenured ruggers, Matthew Trott, has graduated CNU with a BS in organismal biology! His time with the team has led him to play various positions on the field culminating in Trott serving as vice president of the team. Now that he is finished with school, Trott intends to transition from a career of hard labor to a career in wildlife biology and conservation while continuing to play rugby for his local men’s team. Congrats to Trott for finishing university and good luck on the transition!
Congratulations to our graduating senior, Robert Robinson! Rob has served in many positions on the team’s executive board, leading him to become club president. His time at CNU resulted in a major in communications and a minor in business management. Rob’s next step following graduation is to join the Nation Guard while he applies to law school. Huge thanks for the many years and leadership Rob! 🫡
Happy z day Mike Tyson

We've teamed up with Krispy Kreme for a fundraiser from March 4th to April 22nd; use this as an excuse to treat yourself to some classic American doughnuts while supporting CNU Rugby in the process! 🍩 Link---> groupraise.com/offer-campaigns/39556-cnu-rugby-krispy-kreme-digital-dozens
Representing the club at the Newport News One City Marathon were Anthony Berry and Bob Tucker. Congratulations to Bob and Anthony for running the marathon! 🏃🏅
Over the past two weekends, the team volunteered at the C2C Indoor Track Conference Championships and the Indoor Qualifier Meet Feb at CNU. In total, 18 of our members assisted in managing track events, providing the majority of the volunteers. We're looking forward to more track meets as the semester progresses, as they are a great way to engage in the CNU community while fundraising for the team.

The alumni game is an annual event where former players of the CNU Rugby Club come together to play a friendly match against the current team. The game is a celebration of the program's history and a chance for alumni to reconnect with their former teammates, coaches, and the CNU rugby community. The game was held last weekend and was a massive success. A huge thank you to everyone that pitched in to make it happen; we hope to see everyone again next year.
Yesterday the team came up with a win against VCU. This win is a testament to the hard work and dedication our team has put in over the past weeks. Our next game will be against JMU's developmental team on April 14th; we hope to see y'all there.
This Saturday, we're headed to play VCU in Richmond. We'll be playing at Dorey Park. Hope to see many of y'all out to support the team.

Despite the rain and the mud during our game last Saturday, the team pulled through with a 17-12 victory against the Newport News B side team. The team scored three tries, with Bob Tucker scoring one and Anthony Berry scoring two. Here are some pictures from the game; more photos, in addition to film from the game, will be coming out soon in a later post. Huge thank you to Newport News Rugby for hosting the game and allowing us to play, as well as to the friends and fans of the team that came out in support!
