🧠Think about it Thursday🧠 Many don’t know but your grip strength and shoulder strength are strongly correlated! Your grip strength measures can indicate the strength and health of your Rotator Cuff. Whether you have a Rotator Cuff injury or any type of labral involvement for your shoulder, emphasizing stabilization exercises such as these can help get your shoulder back to feeling better quicker, and safely. Just look at Reed’s grip strength increase from some of the exercises! #rehabilitation #shoulder #gripstrength #physicaltherapy

BFR (Blood Flow Restriction) Cuffs! A common exercise set we do for patients recovering from post ACL repair! Of course, these exercises may vary from where you are in your recovery process. BFR Cuffs allow you to put more stress in the muscles and less stress on the surgical site! #pttech #physicaltherapy #rehabilitation #acl #aclrecovery #workout #workoutwednesday

A hip bridge variation! This version of hip bridges involves using sliders under your feet. If you don't have sliders, try using towels on a hard surface! This exercise promotes strength particularly in your glutes and hamstrings! Laying on your back with your knees bent and feet on sliders or towels, slowly lift your hips up. While holding your hips up, slowly slide one leg down towards the ground, and then back up towards your original position. Repeat with the other leg for a total of 10-15 reps, alternating legs. Make sure to hold those hips up and not let them drop during the leg movement!!! Using BFR or Blood Flow Restriction cuffs this morning at the office! A tool used by many professional athletes to aid in strengthening muscles. This patient only has to use 20-30% work load during these leg extensions with the BFR cuffs to significantly strengthen his legs! Call us today (757-591-2668) and find out more information about the benefits of BFR cuffs! #BFR #BeStrong

Leg lowers! This exercise works and helps to stretch your hamstring muscles, making them looser, and more flexible. Laying on the ground by a doorway, place your left leg on the wall. Begin with your right leg on the ground. Slowly raise it as high as you can, hold for two counts and lower. Repeat 10-15X. Switch sides and complete with the other leg!

I,Y,T's. This exercise helps strengthen your shoulders and upper back! It can be done on the floor or a stability ball! Laying face down on the ground or stability ball, start with your arms in front of you, shoulder width apart and raise your arms up and hold for 2 counts. Then move your arms a little further apart into a Y shape. Lift again and hold for 2 counts. Finally, bring your arms around to your sides, perpendicular from your body in a T-shape. Again lift, hold, and bring down. Repeat 10-15 times.

Calf raises! These help strengthen your muscles in your calves for walking and running! Standing on a stair, box, or even on the floor, lower your heels (if on the floor keep your feet flat) and move up onto your toes. Hold for 2 counts and lower. Repeat 10-15 times to help strengthen your calf muscles! #strength #calves #calfmuscles #physicaltherapy

Resisted Marching! Helps strengthen your hip and hip flexors. Standing with a band around your feet, lift your knee to a 90 degree angle, hold for 2 counts and put down. Switch and do the other side! #strength #hipflexors #hips #pt

Seated thoracic extension! Take a break during your day, roll up a towel, place behind your back under your shoulders, hands behind your head, and move slowly back and forth. Helps fix poor posture and relieves upper back and chest pain! #painrelief #stretch #posture
