Oak Park & River Forest Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos/Day of the Dead
With Día de Muertos coming up this week, Oak Park resident Alma Martinez explains how ofrendas are central to this rich cultural celebration. The Village is collaborating with Martinez and numerous community partners to co-host Oak Park’s 2024 Día de Muertos Event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 2 in Scoville Park. Frankenstein's Monster visits Publican Quality Bread
Frankenstein's monster was recently seen rampaging through the Oak Park Arts District Business Association searching for bread. Thankfully Publican Quality Bread was able to come to the rescue! Oak Park Fire Department Open House
Oak Parkers young, old and in between are invited to the Oak Park Fire Department open house, set for tomorrow, Sat. Oct. 12. Visitors will be able to get up close to the equipment, tour the fire house and talk to the firefighter/paramedics who help keep the community safe during the event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Main Station at 100 N. Off the Wall - Motor Row
The talented teens who participate in Off the Wall, the Oak Park Area Arts Council's teen summer arts employment program, recently put the finishing touches on another eye-catching mosaic mural in the community. Located at 230 Madison St. across from the Park District's Community Recreation Center, the new art installation is a nod to local history and Madison Street’s former status as Motor Row due to the many car dealerships that used to line the roadway.

Buzz Café by Kribi
Buzz Café is now Buzz Café by Kribi Coffee after a recent ownership change. New owner Jacques Shalo discusses his plans for this cornerstone business in the Oak Park Arts District Business Association as he carries on the tradition started by former Buzz Cafe owner Laura Maychruk with a Kribi Coffee Air Roastery spin. Second annual Viva Festival
Hispanic Heritage Month is underway and the Village’s second annual ¡Viva! Festival is around the corner. Save the date for the outdoor celebration on Saturday, Sept. 28 from noon to 3 p.m. on the south lawn at Village Hall. The event features entertainment, delicious food and activities for kids. The Oak Park Farmers’ Market is celebrating National Farmers’ Market Week with the return of its popular Corn Roast this Saturday, Aug. 10! Fresh-picked corn from Market growers will be sold by the ear hot off the roaster from about 9:30 a.m. until supplies are gone.
