I'm a cardio ju**ie but resistance training is a must.
Day 5 of Shift Shop. My eating has been on point so far!
Not sure about you but the only way I'm consistent with my personal workouts is to get them done in the morning.
Day 1 went well. 2 workouts, since I taught class and ate according to my meal plan.
New Workout program starts tomorrow! I'm excited yet scared! But I'm ready :)
Hmmm...so few items but multiple ways to get in a quick workout.
Presses, lunges, bicep curls, mountain climbers, squats with weights, triceps pushups.....
Used the support band for core workout today.
Good Morning!
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!
Go get it!
How do you plan to get through your week?
Are you going to just go through the motions or are you going to take it head on?
Take control of a situation and meet it head on. For starters a good workout to start your day will give you the confidence you need.
Do you feel you need more of a boost on Monday's?
Do you have a hard time deciding what's for dinner?
Are you tired of the same thing week after week or want to add in some variety?
Well here is an app a good friend told me about. Who doesn't like a good app?
It's called Mealime. It gives simple and healthy dishes based on your preferences. If you are vegetarian you can remove meat options. You know..that type of customization.
Here is a sample of what my options gave me. Of course I liked the fish and asparagus but it gave me a new way to prepare it.
This is free unless you want the bells and whistles as an addon.
If you download it and try it out post below on your thoughts and whether you prepared a meal based on it.
You never know what life prepares you for. Have you ever wondered if what you are doing now will be still be the same later on?
I can tell you that this time last year I never thought I would be teaching a fitness class at my church.
When I was in Virginia I was certified to teach a few formats and worked at my friends studio. But it took a while for that to come into existence.
I had taught for almost 2 years at different places trying to build up a class but it was taking a while. Then I met a very dear friend named Angel and was teaching at her studio. And things were finally looking up.
But then we got the call that we were relocating to NY. That meant starting over from scratch and not knowing anyone.
For almost a year I didn't teach. I was still learning the area and taking a breather. But I was still doing my at home workouts and encouraging others online.
Well one day I filled out a form at my new church about what activities I would like to get involved in. I mean I was already in two choirs. But there was a line for other. So I put "fitness".
A few weeks later I was asked to co teach and present a fitness ministry to my church. I never thought I would be doing that here but everything happens for a reason.
You never know what you will be prepared for. The class grows and falls off just like anything else but I'm happy this is where I'm supposed to be in this moment.
After the American Heart Association walk/run
Time to get started!
So what temperature do you like to run in?
I found this photo from Shape magazine. Today I'm doing a 5K with the American Heart Association and the temperature here today should be just about right.
However, I prefer it to be in the 70s because I don't like to start out cold.
What's your preference?
Do you ever say to yourself "I never win anything"? Well that was me a few weeks ago.
My employer had a health inspired scavenger hunt. I was not going to participate but a co-worker convinced me to get up and take a break.
There were 5 stops and each stop you gathered a ticket. If you did some form of exercise like pushups or jumping jacks you got more.
So I made the comment I'll do it because I like the fitness aspect but I never win anything.
Well at the end I put my tickets in the jar that I liked the most..which was a fitness bag.
A few days later I saw that I had won. So never say never and now I get to enjoy a prize that I may not have won had I not tried something different.
So today do something different :)
This past weekend my husband and I went to the Boston Aquarium. I think we thought it would be a little different. I had a picture of sea world in my head thinking that's what it was going to be.
For us it was more like sensory overload. A lot of people trying to see what you want to see but also adding in lots of children and strollers.
Of course seeing all the life in the water was amazing but I probably think my future trips to the aquarium will be limited.
But hey...we went, we saw, we left.
Maybe it's better with children? What has been your experience?
The workout after Memorial Day weekend is tough
So I decided to do a little run around my neighborhood since it was a nice day. I didn't have a watch or a GPS on to see how far I was going but I thought I had been gone for a good amount of time.
So I get home and look up the route I did and found I was slightly off. Like by a mile 😁
Have you ever miscalculated and said "that's all I did?"
We had a nice full class today! Great work and we welcomed back some familiar faces.
We started off with a new Turbo routine and finished us off with a tough fitness workout using a deck of cards.
Did yall really asked if someone else cut the cards?? Lol.
Everyday is a good day for a workout.
Ready for Super Saturday to begin.
