Summer Camp Finale for Gwinnett Campers: A Carnival of Joy! 🎉🌞

Thursday marked the end of our amazing summer camp with a vibrant carnival at our new Gwinnett center. Tacos, ice cream, games, and our special COA Store made the day unforgettable!

Big thanks to Jenny for the tacos, and to our CCIT students, teachers, and volunteers for their incredible support. What a summer it's been!

A few days ago, our DeKalb branch celebrated a Day of Cultures! Everyone worked on a cultural project, and they had the chance to present and share it with everyone who participated in the summer camp.

Over the past weeks, they learned about the cultures of Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. They explored traditions, food, and traditional clothing.

We are so proud of their hard work and creativity!

Hace unos días, nuestra sede de DeKalb celebró el Día de las Culturas. Todos trabajaron en un proyecto cultural y tuvieron la oportunidad de presentarlo y compartirlo con todos los grupos del campamento de verano.

🦖🌍🔬 Our DeKalb branch students are having an incredible adventure at Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta today! From 1st to 6th grade, these young explorers are immersing themselves in fascinating exhibitions about our planet's natural wonders. We hope this experience sparks their curiosity, fosters a love for science, and inspires them to become future stewards of our environment. Who knows? We might have some budding paleontologists, geologists, or conservationists in our midst! Learning through fun is always the best way to grow.

Yesterday, our teens had an amazing adventure at the Georgia Aquarium! They explored the wonders of ocean life and had a blast at the sea lion and dolphin show.

Corners Outreach was proud to participate in the Latino Economic Forum: Sustaining Growth Across Georgia on June 26th at the Coca-Cola World Headquarters.

This impactful event, organized by Bank of America in partnership with Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Latin American Association - Asociación Latinoamericana and World Affairs Council of Atlanta, highlighted the significant economic contributions of Latinos in our state.

The forum featured the presentation of the "Atlanta Metro Latino GDP Report" by Dr. David Hayes-Bautista and Dr. Matthew Fienup, funded by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

Our Chief Commercial Officer, Suzette Bryan, represented Corners, raising awareness about our mission and vision. The connections made at this event open new doors for our families, aligning us with organizations that support our goals. We're grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to this important dialogue on Latino economic impact in Georgia.

Our DLI (Dual Language Immersion) kids wrapped up their summer camp week with a splash! After an exciting day of water games, they cooled off with some well-deserved ice cream.

A big shout-out to our amazing CCIT program participants in their pink tops! 👚 Their hard work, leadership, and dedication in organizing the games and preparing materials made this day extra special.

🏛️💼 Corners at the Capitol: Making Meaningful Connections

We're proud to share that our CCO, Suzette Bryan, represented Corners at the Small Business Legislation and Business Topics event at the Georgia State Capitol on June 24th. This crucial town hall, hosted by State Representative Rey Martinez of Cubarican LLC DBA Rey's Cuban Cafe, brought together key state department leaders to discuss vital small business legislation.

From the Governor's office to the Departments of Agriculture, Education, Labor, and Insurance, the event covered a wide range of topics affecting our business community. As one of the event sponsors, Corners played a significant role in fostering these important conversations.

This engagement aligns perfectly with our recent membership in the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, further solidifying our commitment to the local community ecosystem.

We're thankful for this opportunity to nurture new relationships with community leaders, fellow nonprofits, and business owners. Together, we're working towards a thriving, inclusive business environment in Georgia!

Tech Time at Corners Camp! 📱💻🚀

This week, our summer camp theme is all about technology, and we're diving deep into the digital world!

Yesterday, we were thrilled to welcome two incredible guests who shared their experiences in the tech industry: Paul Butler, Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, and Oscar Lara, a former Microsoft employee and inspiring entrepreneur, shared their experiences and insights.

The tech sector has fewer African Americans (7.4%), Hispanics (8%), and women (36%) than the general workforce.

Oscar came to the US at 13 and worked as a janitor before launching his career. Paul pursued sports in high school before changing his focus to technology.

Their stories highlight the importance of diversity in tech.

Oscar’s and Paul's experiences showed our campers that with determination and hard work, they can break barriers and succeed in tech, no matter their background!

On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of the Civil War and proclaim freedom for enslaved people. Let's honor and celebrate the rich history and culture of the African American community.

Today, our Chief Commercial Officer, Suzette Bryan, and our Staffing Director, Billy Torres, attended the Annual Local Nonprofit Showcase organized by Atlanta Against Cancer at Ponce City Market. They shared information about Corners with over 30 community members, representing our organization with pride.
