GREAT NEWS!! We have had a couple of substantial donations come in through the mail. In total, we have received over $6,000 in checks. So, our grand total to date is well over $7,000. It seems we are having a run of urinary blockages in cats. We tend to see trends in our medical assistance cases. No explanation why, but it happens. Today, Arlo is the kitty with the issue. He spent 4 days and 3 nights at the emergency vet, but re-blocked within 24 hours of being released. Arlo will be headed for surgery soon for possibly PU surgery and stone removal. Since his people maxed their care credit at the emergency vet, they do not have the thousands of dollars needed for surgery. ART has pledged $600.

Now that Summer is really here… please keep your pets in mind as the temperatures rise! ♥️🐾♥️

Hope (the large black pup in the photo) ran out past one of her person's kids when they opened the door. Sadly, she was struck by a bus. She suffered lung contusions and a fractured scapula, but escaped with her life! ART was able to help with the overnight costs of the emergency clinic.

Arlo was suffering from some wounds and pyometra. Her person is homeless and could not afford the surgery necessary to save Arlo's life. ART was able to help with $500 towards her surgery and another local cat rescue, Billie the Kidden, covered the rest.

Would it be worth $25 to you to ensure that cats like Max are healthy and comfortable? Max suffered from a urinary blockage and ART was able to assist with his vet bills when his person did not have all the funds to ensure he was cared for.

Latte tore up and ingested part of a mattress pad. He was eating normal afterwards for about a week and then started to vomit. After a couple of subsequent days of not eating or drinking, Latte's person knew he needed to be seen by a vet. Could you please help us raise $145 to cover a portion of Latte's exam, x-rays, IV fluids and meds?

Roxy Balboa has been suffering with a sore under her eye. Her person is physically and mentally disabled and does not work. Due to financial difficulties, she had put off care for Roxy. When ART agreed to assist with funds, Roxy's person broke down in tears. ART partnered with Paws in Need to cover the bill. Can you please help us raise $500 to cover our portion of the bill?

We celebrated our 25th Anniversary with a spay/neuter event and we plan on continuing our celebration with a big fundraising effort. But first, we want to celebrate our followers and their fur babies! Without all our supporters, ART would not be able to continue our lifesaving work year after year. So, we want to celebrate YOU! Drop us a photo of your fur babies below. We know that these special animals are the ones that inspire us to help and protect those that can not protect themselves!

What would you do if your cat had a urinary blockage and you expended all your funds trying to get him help? Berlioz was suffering and his person took him to 2 different vets for care at a total cost of $1200. He was then taken to a third vet and quoted $1500 for 2 to 3 days of monitoring, fluids and bloodwork. Because that cost was more than his person could afford, Berlioz was then taken to a final vet that gave him an exam and meds. It was recommended that he be fed prescription food and monitored for future issues. PU surgery was not recommended since it was his first blockage. ART was able to assist by contributing $205 towards Berlioz's care and we kindly request help to raise these funds.

25 for 25!!!

In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, ART offered to cover the expenses for 25 animals to be spayed/neutered and receive needed vaccinations! Our S/N clinic is underway today with all the sweet pups and kitties shown below. ART partnered with Grant Veterinary Clinic to offer this service to our community.

THANK YOU to everyone in the Hampton Roads area that has supported us, volunteered for us, and/or partnered with us over the past 25 YEARS! Because of you all, ART is firmly rooted in our animal community. We hope to serve you all for many many years to come.
