Sunflowers, anyone? 😎So beautiful to see them in the fields, especially when there are different color varieties.
Did you know that there are many color combinations appropriate for funerals? White is not necessarily the standard color, and many combinations can be utilized. We base many of our designs on color requests, flower requests, and available product to fit those requests.
These are just a sample of the many funeral designs we have completed during our 60 years in business.

“When the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there.” I had the honor of preparing a casket spray for a dear dear family friend, who was a faithful Christian servant in his church and his community. Yesterday, When his lovely wife requested I do his casket spray I was deeply honored, as Danny meant so much to me personally. Her only request was red roses, for the love of her life. So I used white mixed flowers, highlighting the red roses and safari sunset, never wondering what color the casket was…Just doing my best out of love and respect. This morning as the spray was placed on his casket, I saw that it was a perfect and beautiful compliment to Danny’s mahogany casket with the white lining.❤️I have prepared many sprays for families in their time of sorrow, but when it’s personal friends and family, it is both an honor and an act of love to be able to do what I do with the gifts the Lord has blessed me with.
Thank you to friends, customers, family who shared our post for our need of a delivery driver. As of this past week, we now have a regular driver! And an experienced one, too! Yay! We are happy to have a former employee/driver back after a long absence! Our appreciation goes out to Debbie, for being willing to help us out again. Delivery is a service to our customers, and we must have someone willing and devoted to making that possible.
Todays creation : casket spray requesting Tropical greens accented with purple and yellow fresh flowers
Hey everyone! We are AGAIN looking for a part-time delivery driver. Any recommendations or interest please email, message or call. It’s not a hard job at all, just have to be flexible in availability with a good driving record, handle these arrangements carefully, and have a willingness to accommodate our customer’s needs. Retired individuals are ideal candidates! Contact by FB message, email [email protected], call 843-552-0331.
My work is never completed until the flowers reach their destination after business hours, on my personal time. One reason I bought a larger SUV a couple years ago…and today I proved my point. I can accommodate a large casket spray, 2 standing hearts and a vase arrangement, with room for more.
Just 3 days to get your orders in for your ❤️❤️Sweetheart❤️❤️. Feb 14th is the Day! Call to place your order at 843-552-0331 or online at www.hoodsfloristandgifts.com.
Today’s custom design..a bouquet ordered by a customer for his wife’s birthday. His one request was to include her favorite colors of red and purple…the rest was left to us. It’s nice to have customers who trust you to do your thing!! It makes our job easier! She was overjoyed when she received them, and then called to thank us for making such a beautiful arrangement. That reaction makes it all worthwhile❤️
Did you know that you can make your own fresh bough of greenery for the holidays? Just gather a few different fresh materials you would like: seasonal greens include varieties of cedar, holly, magnolia, fir, eucalyptus, juniper, ivy, pine. Just cut several branches of each material, long enough to layer and drape down. To assemble, layer branches on top of each other, alternating different kinds to create depth and natural curves. All branches will hang down, with cut stems at the top. When you have the desired look and fullness, tightly secure the end of the branches together with cord, wire, or zip tie. Add decorative touches, such as wiring in pinecones or balls, tie a ribbon at the top to hide the ends. Attach cord or wire to the back to hang your evergreen bough in your desired spot.

Finally! I think we are ready for the Christmas holidays! 🎄⛄️ How about you? This is the toughest season to change, and takes days to move it all out, set up and on display, while everything else has to be moved around.
We now have wreaths and cemetery arrangements ready for the season, and the first of the poinsettias are large and beautiful! Stop by and see what we have to offer this holiday season!
Arrangement of the Day! It made quite the impression today for someone’s birthday at work. All parties were just “WOWED” over this special delivery.
3 Bridal bouquets in 4 Days. Each bride had their different requests and color schemes. The informal, muted earthy tones for the outdoor home ceremony..The vibrant fall tones with burgundy orange gold and ivory for the chapel ceremony …to the more traditional ivory with blue for the beach wedding
This is one of my favorite rose colors. It is a bi-color yellow with orange edges, but looking down into the center it is a beautiful orange! This is a specially designed bouquet I do every year for dear customers in this requested color. Enjoy their beauty!
Sitting in the cooler doesn’t justify its size, but when placed in its intended location this morning…there you have it! Thank you Dorchester County School District II.
Casket spray created for a long-time customer, known by my mother since she began this business on Durant Ave..nearly 60 years ago.❤️ Special request from the family to include birds of some sort, one of Mrs Martha Litchfield’s favorites. Interesting side note: both my brother and myself were Mrs Litchfield’s kindergarten students MANY years ago at Holmes Ave Bapt, just across the road from the flower shop at corner of Durant and Holmes Ave.
Update: Our job opening for a delivery driver is now filled….Yay! 👏 Welcome back, Mark! Thank you to those who shared the open positions with family and friends. We are still looking for a part-time floral designer with experience. Anyone with proven design qualifications may contact by email or PM for consideration. Job description may be found in previous posts on this page.
Dusty blues white and silver was the color theme of this small wedding bouquet earlier this month
What do you do with those Easter lilies after they have bloomed? You plant them in the ground and you’ll see them come back every year. These were planted last year, and are in bloom now. This one in particular we counted at least 16 blooms on one stalk. That’s a lot, considering you are lucky to get 4 blooms when you purchase or receive one.
This design I created a couple weeks ago for our friend, and longtime customer, veterinarian Dr. Donnie Gamble, who retired last month after more than 30 years. The naturalistic and woodsy look to the design, is most fitting for him. Donnie’s most recent practice was Oakbrook Veterinary Clinic, and previously Dorchester Veterinary Clinic. Donnie came to that practice when it was located next door to us in Evanston Plaza, early in his career, with Dr. Freeman. He became a good customer, and we in turn, became his clients with all our pets over the years. Enjoy your retirement, Donnie…it is well-deserved!
When your Mother is the proprietor who established this business nearly 60 years ago, it’s necessary to make sure she gets flowers when she is under the weather a bit. But of course, they were admired so much, she donated them for others to enjoy
