I love a knife with history! This little assisted open was given to me for rehab. It belonged to my client’s grandfather who owned a fruit distributor in Providence and used it everyday to check the quality of his wares before sending them out. There wasn’t much to do but sharpen and clean it. The action was pristine!

F*ck yeah.

Every culture everywhere has a history of bladesmithing. Particularly in the kitchen, these days German and Japanese knives steal (no pun intended 😉) the spot light. But CHECK OUT this knife! Hand made in Ireland with a handle crafted from ancient bog oak. Absolutely exquisite craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing this beauty.

Who’s who? Pop quiz. Which handle goes with which blade? And no- I didn’t leave them in the same order!

Ok ….this one really IS your knife!!!

Noah, Noah, Noah…. you fiend! I’m a little late in posting this fatal beauty- but wow! What should I cleave first?!? This was my Christmas present from the hubs and I’m just itching for something to use it with!

Birthday Dinner 🥳!! In all honestly you can keep your filet mignon- gimme a HUGE ribeye instead. Its got so much more flavor! And the leftovers make a killer steak sandwich.

Tell me someone else has been using your knife without saying someone else has been using your knife….

Building off of yesterday’s theme- I had the incredible joy of FINALLY going to in Pawtucket today. I think they were afraid I’d never leave! Forget Disney- this was way better than a theme park for me. (Although one booth was legit all about ) Around every corner was more magic. And then I realized there was ANOTHER FLOOR! I took so many pictures. Find of the day- was this little rarity- a Carerra marble knife block…. I simultaneously cringe for the knives every time they are pulled out across solid marble and drool a little at the unique luxury of it. Better than the block itself? The 2 Wood-handled Sabatiers inside. 😁

As a lover of all things history as well as antiques and well- *duh* blades, I am always pleased when something like this comes across my bench. I mean come on, there’s nothing like Bakelite to get a girl excited 😜

Coming back to you from beyond the beyond! I’ve been here the whole time- I swear. This is what I’ve been up to: Meet spatula knife. A ten inch chef’s knife masquerading as a burger flipping tool. (Bad plastic surgeon) Anyway, I fixed his nose, and he’s looking fine. It’s good to be back 😁

Time to get stoned! 😉Today I went super-traditional with a beautiful blade. Doing a single beveled Japanese blade on a whetstone left me feeling very zen.

Slainte folks. “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields”

Happy Pi day!!!! (I married an engineer....today is like Christmas in my house) thanks for the recipe! Chicken, spinach and gruyere hand pies, and we’ve taken your duck prosciutto and made lardons for a salad...AND used the rendered fat in the dressing 😜

Alright .surgess I took your advice and made duck prosciutto pizza. AND IT ROCKED!
Wood fired crust (I confess I didn’t make it 🥴)
Ricotta and peppercorn parm bechamel ( I DID make this)
Topped with arugula and baby spinach, dressed with fig balsamic.

Oh the Swiss! Anyone who knows me knows I can’t STAND a hokey gadget that does just. one. thing. Seriously- the inefficiency of it all. But This! This is perfection. Leave it to to come up with a multi use tool that fits in your wallet better than that stack of store credit cards you don’t use!!! It has a pen, a knife, scissors, tweezers, a screwdriver bit with four heads, a pin, a magnifying glass, a laser pointer AND its edge is a small ruler. And for those of us who are SURE the walking dead is a preview of our future- this takes up almost no space in your bug-out bag! Or for you who are not yet convinced of the zombie apocalypse, it’s a great addition to your EDC.
