Some BISD Football history for you to consume while enjoying Thanksgiving with Family/Friends and watching football:
Richland plays in Round 3 tomorrow night, and we need all BISD peeps to be at the FAAC as the Royals attempt to achieve a HUGE milestone: win on Thanksgiving week and play in Round 4!
So why are Round 3 games so special? Glad you asked:
UIL 5A Football playoffs went to the 4 teams from each District format (and current format in use) in 2006, while 4A went to this format in 2008. At this time, there was no 6A yet. It's a rare feat for any school to make the final 16 (Regionals) in it's respective division:
Haltom High School (Started football in 1935 as Birdville Buffs)
All-Time Playoff Record 9-11 (*incl. playoffs as Birdville High until 1956)
-Played in the Regionals in 1993, 1996, 2018
-Won Regionals in 2018
Richland High School (Started football in 1961)
All-Time Playoff Record 7-12
-Played in the Regionals in 1980, 1984, 2017
-Won Regionals in 2017
Birdville High School (Started football in 2000)
All-Time Playoff Record 16-15
-Played in the Regionals in 2004, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2018, 2019
-Won Regionals in 2012, 2013, 2018
BISD has had 12 total Regional Round playoff games in 173 combined seasons of football. BISD has won 5 Regional Playoff games in this time.
I am not certain of this, but I would hazard a guess this is the first time BISD has hosted a Regional Round playoff game featuring one of our own. this Friday and let's go get win #6 over those nasty and dirty interlopers from Forney!

Congrats!!! Big time!
Congratulations to Birdville High sophomore Cohen Topley for his incredible accomplishment of having two artworks advance to the 2023 state VASE Competition and both being selected as a “Gold Seal” recipient. Approximately 2,000 artworks advanced to the state competition in April with 151 receiving the top honor of a Gold Seal. There were only five students who received a double Gold Seal! In addition to this, one of Cohen’s artworks is one of 25 Gold Seals selected for a special showing at the Texas Fine Arts Administrators Association Conference in November. Of special note, Cohen’s mom, Amber, who has been a coach in the district for many years currently became the art teacher at North Oaks MS.

On Friday, September 22, the Birdville ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to express their unwavering support for the district's dedicated staff and their commitment to student success. In response to concerns surrounding the current A–F Accountability System, established by the Texas Legislature, the Board stands united in their belief that the system's assessment of schools is fundamentally flawed.
