It is with heavy hearts that we report the loss of one of our own. On February 19th 2023, Captain Mike Widmer passed away after a brief illness. During his illness Captain Widmer continued to prove what made him special to everyone around him. His strength and sense of humor in some of his hardest days provided a true depiction of the kind of person he was.

For 17 years he provided selfless service to the great City of North Tonawanda, all of which in a volunteer capacity. In recent years, Captain Widmer was in charge of Recruiting and Training new Auxiliary Officers, a position he loved. There is a saying “when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure”. We now know every moment spent with Captain Widmer was truly a treasure.

We ask that you keep Captain Widmer’s family in your thoughts.
