Acrylic glass painting I completed recently at the Auburn Hills Public Library! If I did this picture again, I wouldn’t use the sharpie in the sky. 🧐🎨🖌️

In the past year, I’ve done a couple of Teen Anime Acrylic Glass Painting classes, but the subject doesn’t have to be anime! It can be favorite video game and cartoon characters too.

People really enjoy painting classes, whether they’re with acrylic or watercolor paints! I teach step-by-step while encouraging attendees to go easy on themselves, relax and experiment! It’s a pressure-less environment and we have fun! Want to host a painting class at your library or organization? We can do just about anything (there’s a bit of drawing before painting and I have light boxes for tracing for people who don’t feel comfortable freehand drawing! Send me an email: [email protected].

I will have 18 total painting classes for this year! That's the most I've ever done in one year.

Thank you to every library that has welcomed and hosted me, and asked me back to finish out the year. I'm really grateful that I've had the opportunity to share my passion and knowledge for painting, especially watercolor and acrylic.

We've also done some drawing, and those have been incredibly fun to teach too.

I'm really excited for my upcoming classes and have been scheduling some for early 2024 as well! :)

Mixed media artist Mickalene Thomas' artistic vision is a celebration of beauty, identity, and diversity. In "Something You Can Feel," today's , Thomas weaves together painting, collage, and mixed media to create a truly mesmerizing piece 🎨

The title of the artwork suggests that Thomas is interested in exploring not just the visual, but also the emotional and experiential aspects of her subjects. Through her use of color, pattern, and texture, Thomas creates a rich sensory experience that invites the viewer to engage with the artwork on multiple levels.

"Just as my muses insist on their visibility and identity, I want my viewers to feel present with fierceness and boldness. Through the act of seeing, I want them to feel validated just as much. I want them to claim their rightful space in the work." —Mickalene Thomas ✨

"Something You Can Feel" is currently on view at the Detroit Institute of Arts in our African American galleries! Come and experience the vibrant world of Mickalene Thomas. We are open until 9 p.m. tonight📍

An admirer of the sea, painter Hachirô Nakagawa specialized in painting landscapes in a romantic academic manner, as seen in today's "Morning on the River," painted in 1904.

Created with meticulous brushstrokes, Nakagawa's masterful use of light and shade brings an ethereal quality to the scene, creating a sense of calm and tranquility. Enjoy! ✨
