I love our Wednesday evenings for our family : the Bigs go to Kid's Club and my husband and I take our toddler with us to Bible Study with other parents who have kids in the building with us. Charlotte does a great job preoccupying herself with some toys and Gerard & I are able to have conversation with other adults who are in the trenches of parenting and educating their kids. It's a moment in the middle of week where we can be still and know (or be reminded of) who's in charge of all of our comings and goings. While there are definitely times when I want to be in control of everything, I'm sure thankful I don't have to be!

Because of this fun job of mine at CarrieKrupkePhotography, I've learned about sunrise/sunset times and how that lighting affects our time together as well as when things are in bloom all over the Des Moines Metro to plan according to what kind of backdrops you'd like to have. We are certainly blessed to have the best of both worlds around us with rural and urban settings to choose from! Happy !

It's officially softball season in our house! First tournament of the season is this weekend and I'm looking to outfit the car with the logistical things we need to help the weekend go smoothly - what are you "must haves"? Please flood my DM's and comments with your favorite things!!

Happy birthday to this lovely, adventuring-seeking, wise, and logical Mom of mine!! I came across this photo of my parents while I was in SoCal on spring break and it encapsulates them perfectly. Traveling together on an adventure, totally relaxed & joyful, and enjoying one another's company.

The second photo is holding Charlotte for the first time, a year after Dad's passing. It is absolutely possible to feel and experience joy in the midst of grief. There is always, always something to be grateful for and today, Mom is it for me! If you know her, send her some well wishes!!

Hanging on to the start of the week after Prom weekend has me like....

Seniors, your parents will always have the right to embarrass you a little bit throughout your life. I encourage at least one of them to come on your photo shoot with you and who knows? Maybe I'll get to document the embarrassment to cement in memories forever!!

This week has been all about spring sports - how could I leave out golf? Loved photographing and with a sport that has connected their family. Lots of great time on the green for them! 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️ This dynamic duo proves that siblings who golf together, stay together. ;)

Swinging into the final season with style and grit! 🎾 As we celebrate Katie's last season, let's cheer her on to make every match unforgettable. Game. Set. Match!

As tricky as shooting a stadium can be (weird skin color casts from turf and track, absolutely NO shade) I LOVE featuring seniors in their happy place - where they feel sometimes their most confident self. Happy final high school soccer season, Anna!! Excited to see where soccer takes you in the collegiate space at Lewis! ⚽

It's track & field season!! Wishing all my seniors good luck on their final lap around the track.

There are definitely days where I feel like I'm crushing it. And there are other days that crush me. Right now, thankfully, my most glaring failure is just my March Madness Men's Bracket!

SPRING BREAK!!! I get to see my mom over break and I'm so excited to have this time with her. I'll be in and out of the online space, but know that I'll be back soon!

Hard to believe, but it's true! This coming summer will mark my 12th year as an LLC and 16th year documenting people's greatest moments - their weddings, their family stages and most recently, when one of their children is getting ready to graduate high school. For those new around this little corner of the internet, I also teach high school photography & social media, so it's safe to say that I love the age group and can make conversation with just about everybody.

These two have a breather from their fall/winter sports before their spring options ramp up (tennis and soccer)! Always a blast with these two lovely ladies and it reinforced the message to me that doing a session with your best friend (in their case, their twin) is a really special experience!
