We found a little break in our busy schedule to squeeze in a mini trip to Florida! But this all could not be possible without the help of our mothers. They held the fort down at home with the HMI crew. They made our trip away from the girls easy and relaxing!

Even though I am booked for in-home pet sitting - drop ins, walks etc will still be available.

🌼 Happy first day of spring! Today is the vernal equinox, when daylight and night are perfectly equal and astronomical spring officially begins. We’ve been enjoying the sunshine and mild weather, and the plants are coming to life too. Whether it’s puppies digging up bulbs or cats nibbling on leaves, our ER sees a variety of toxic plant cases every year - and knowing which ones may be dangerous can be key to keeping your pets safe.

There are many more toxic plants besides the ones pictured here – we recommend checking the ASPCA Poison Control website at https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants for information on specific plants, and what signs you should look out for. If you suspect your pet has ingested a harmful plant, contact poison control for recommendations on how to proceed.

After a lot of thought, I have decided to close my books to POTENTIAL clients for OVERNIGHT reservations only.

To my current clients: I am still accepting overnight care reservations and nothing will change for you!

To potential clients who currently have a meet & greet scheduled with me, you’re safe - don’t worry!!

Scheduling a complimentary meet & greet is very important in my opinion. This gives you, your pet & myself an opportunity to get to know each other, get familiar with your pets routine & to make sure you’re comfortable with the level of care I have to offer.

With that being said,
Starting January 15th, I will only be doing meet & greets on Wednesday evenings, Saturdays & Sundays. By having only specific days for meet and greets gives me a better opportunity to work around my busy schedule as a vet tech & pet sitter.

Tito is one of the pups I am lucky enough to care for when his parents are away. I always look forward to his couch snuggles & of course, his ears!!! Look at them 🥲
His parents recently rescued him & he couldn’t have been a better fit for them. Who rescued who??

2023 has been an incredible year & I have all my clients & their fur babies to thank for that - so thank you 🤍

There will be some changes coming in 2024:

•Unfortunately with cost of living, gas, etc - I will be increasing prices slightly. If you are a new client of HMI since this past month (December 2023) pricing that was discussed is the increased price and we will not be changing that in 2024.

•To my current clients, I will reach out personally with new pricing for any upcoming reservations over the next few days.

•Starting January 1st - any reservation that is longer than 7 days, I will be requiring 25-50% down payment which will go towards the total at the end of the reservation. I will always provide clients a breakdown and total cost when booking reservations with plenty of notice.

•Starting now, I will be requiring free meet & greets for any new/potential client prior to any reservations. Meet and greets are a way for you to get to know me, I can get to know you/your pet(s), for your pet to get familiar with me and I can learn their routines etc.

•With all this, I am on the fence of closing my books to any potential new clients. I am already booking into November 2024. I am very grateful for the amazing clients I have now, I want to make sure I’m around when you need me. As of right now we are still accepting new clients but this could change quickly. So with that being said, if you’re thinking of booking any reservations with me- GET YOUR RESERVATIONS IN ASAP!

*Remember that even the water or a little pollen from lilies can kill or cause severe neurological & organ damage in cats. Don't have them in your house if you have cats!! If you even think your cat came in contact, call poison control & see a vet immediately.
Pine needles and water are not on this list, but can also be a danger.

Good Evening my Hair of the Dog Family!

Fall is my absolute favorite season, and November always gets me thinking about how grateful I am, and wanting to give back.

That said, this year, Hair of the Dog is going to be collecting donations for the Connecticut Humane Society. There are always animals of all shapes and sizes that need help. If you would like to help us in giving back, we will have a donation box at the salon during the month of November. Here are some items that they could use:
