Do you know what sextortion is? Sextortion is the act of threatening to share n**e or explicit images, and it is more common than you may think, and cases affecting young children, teens, and adults have increased exponentially in the past two years. In fact, Homeland Security Investigations received over 3,000 sextortion tips in fiscal year 2022. Predators use phones to stalk and blackmail teens on social media and dating apps.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office continues to protect our children from these predators. We have dedicated ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) detectives and Digital Forensic technicians who work tirelessly to help prevent these crimes.
