Inquiry & Innovation Since 1958 Nearly 30,000 students from Marion and Sumter Counties are eligible to participate in the fair each year.
Since 1958 Marion County Public Schools has hosted the Big Springs Regional STEM Fair (formerly Big Springs Regional Science Fair). Students compete either individually or in teams of up to 3 students in 13 categories representing both biological and physical science fields. From the regional fair, 32 projects qualify to advance to the Florida State Science and Engineering fair and up to 8 project

Big Springs STEM is proud of Rish*t Shaquib, of Vanguard High School, who was recognized as a Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar! is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. The Big Springs Regional STEM fair is a local science competition that has been supporting inquiry and innovation in Marion and Sumter counties since 1958.
