today laid out an array of efforts — some already underway and some on the horizon — that address the needs of married service members and their families, as well as single service members.
In a memo titled "Taking Care of Our Service Members and Families," Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III outlined those efforts in greater detail, saying that taking care of people is a critical component of defending the nation.
"The Department of Defense has a sacred obligation to take care of our service members and families," Austin wrote in the memo. "Doing so is a national security imperative. Our military families provide the strong foundation for our force, and we owe them our full support."
Airmen assigned to the 36th Wing put up tents during an operational readiness exercise at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Sept. 12. The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command strategy centers on fielding and sustaining a force capable of combat-credible deterrence posture to win before fighting and if necessary, ready to fight and win.

Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado, is home to the Buckley Garrison. The host unit is responsible for day-to-day support to the operational mission of the Space Delta 4 (DEL 4) Missile Warning Delta. The DEL 4 provides strategic and theater missile warning and supports three constellations of Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) satellites as well as two types of Ground-Based Radars (GBRs) for the purpose of conducting strategic and theater missile warning.
