No power at the shop. Im here so bring a headlamp and cash.... Good news is those 50 mph winds really dirtied up the water on the bay!!!! Next two weeks should be prime time. **** update**** Cash register works can do cash and cards. Still alittle dark and getting cold lol.
Life of a minnow slinger... Security system goes offline, means power outage. So drove back to the shop to fire up generator to keep minnows alive. Rode to breakwater to ensure the docks were holding cause if they didnt it would be a huge I told ya so. Be careful out there its a sh*t show.

Just another 20 hour day!!!! It takes an excellent supporting cast to make a year round tackle shop roll. From Greg the custom painter, to Pat and Kurt the custom rod builders, to Asa and Lee the best in hair jig tieing, to the guys helping at the shop, and many others. Its go time!!!! I appreciate the long hours everyone puts in to keep up with the demand and the customers happy!!!! Today I headed to Wausau to meet with some musky tackle companys. It went really good and thanks to Rich and Mr "porn stashe" I feel we will have the best tackle selection in the smallest amount of room possible Im truly blessed thanks..... Now a couple hours rest
Nice 40 degree temp swing over night were sitting at a balmy 14 degrees this morning with a stiff north wind..... The ice guys on the north side of the breakwall are losing ground today. Water temps yesterday were 33ish. Still switching over the shop to spring slowly, so if your looking for winter bargains on tackle and gear I need space. Lets make a deal!!!!!!!

Winter returned, kinda sorta lol. River is for the most part cleared out. Waves are pretty much beating up the small area of ice left on the bayside of the breakwater. As far as fishing goes, pike and perch are being caught on the riverside of the breakwater and theres some browns being caught in the river to the dam in Stiles. Nice walleye chop out on the bay today.....
Just went and checked the freezing progression on the bay. Its still open but starting to lock up. Other than a few humps of crap to the south it looks nice and smooth. Looks like the ice access on the northside of the breakwall should be well utilized this winter
The weatherman wasnt wrong on this one..... Im at the shop we have 4 ft drifts across the parking lot and the door locks are frozen shut. How did the guy at the auto parts store know the best crack torch to thaw out door locks?? 🤣🤣🤣 Anyhow the slushy crap out on the bay is blowing to the other side nice open water from DE Hall north. Now to freeze!!!!!

Please dont call the shop complaining about no docks at our boat launches. I dont get paid by the city to answer questions here is the number to call 920-604-2521.... And to the poeple bitching about powerloading what the hell are people supposed to do!!!!! There is also a harbor commision meeting this coming Wednesday at 430 at city hall. Time to stop the insanity and work together as a team for the good of the community..... Also someone with a golf cart could make some good jing running a shuttle service...just sayin
Lots of people enjoying the great weather today, fish started showing up in the river. A reminder if you keep a walleye you are done for the day. Thats one walleye on all of Green Bay not at each dam and keeping foul hooked fish (snagging) is not legal!!! The greed of some people is sickening. If you see someone violating call or text 1-800-847-9367... Theres only one warden and a camera network in our area to keep people honest.
Pretty cool watching a river of ice hauling ass to the south.... nature is amazing!!!!! Looks like we are finally losing the shoreline ice thats been miraculously holding on. In the short amount of time Ive been here its busting up real good now willing to bet we have some huge ice piles on the breakwater within a few hours
Wind out of the east northeast this AM, really suprised that theres no ice blowing in must mean the upper bay is clearing out!!!! The city will put out docks when this chunk of ice in the marina is mostly gone, I bet one of those hotrod boats creating a big wake and shooting water up on it would help.....hint hint
