FaeOna’s art was a hit at In Your Eye Studio and Gallery, she answered questions for customers, generally greeted everyone & was an energetic success. She had sales for First Friday & today.
FaeOna Pearl began painting in earnest & frequently with me at 16 months. She’s painted over one hundred pieces, mostly in acrylics, but with countless play lessons in chalk, pens, pencil, & Posca. (Fingerpaints, watercolors etc)
I set up her station and allow her to paint from the heart; she does all of it now, we stage backgrounds first, then she guides the steps & picks the colors, tools, and methods. I make suggestions, and do most of the clean up.
She’s come a long ways, at 40 months, 3 1/2 years old now, she signs the back of each canvas, each one is unique, & i put her logo in the lower right & her current age lower left, of each work with ‘title, date, FaeOna Pearl, current age’ around the frame in the back.
Her sales go to furthering her art education & future and I’m happy to share her work with an audience, we’ve always worked in sets, so I’ve kept one or both of each set to show her progress, over time, but her joy in creating is obvious in her paintings.
So proud of us, the show is beautiful, with art by Sue Hale, myself David Alan Hale, & my three year old daughter FaeOna Pearl. I’d guess 90 artworks in our family show, cards, notebooks & prints, small works & a lot of truly great art from the resident artists, jewelry art, wood art, photography; the gallery is beautiful & the Christmas tree holds loads of handmade ornaments.
I visited Sauced on paseo for lunch & Planet Dorshak as well, (love his art) the Paseo project is moving right along, but the results are pretty amazing, the Paseo District itself is looking very fit and I’m indebted to the gallery for such a wonderful opportunity.


The Spoonbill and the Antelope are two of my new paintings that will be on display at my featured art show opening Friday Dec. 1 at In Your Eye. “A family Affair,” will also feature the artwork of David Hale and my granddaughter, Pearl. David is an illustrative and fine artist who uses several mediums. The dog, Floyd, is one of his characters. His daughter, Pearl, 3, has been painting since she was old enough to hold a brush. We would like to welcome the newest resident artist to the Paseo Arts and Creativity Center, Alexandra Rivas! She will set up her space in Studio 8 of the PACC on Nov. 1.

Alexandra Rivas is a contemporary oil painter and new media artist whose work focuses on themes of identity, relationships, and memory. After spending her childhood and young adult years in Norman exploring many different forms of art and music and studying at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute (2011-2013), she studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating with her BFA and moving home to Oklahoma in 2018. As a Q***r person who grew up in a bicultural family spread across different countries, Rivas enjoys exploring issues of heritage, history, and material culture in her evolving work.

We can't wait to see what her work will bring to the Paseo!

Join us in welcoming Courtney Juen with her ceramics exhibit, "An Invitation to Rest."

Juen expresses themes of faith and spirituality through diverse forms of ceramics. When describing her work, Juen states “As I approach the wheel, I rarely begin a piece with a strict goal, but often have a purpose-driven idea of what I want each piece to become. I believe there is an authenticity that is maintained in listening and adapting to the properties of the individual clay body that consistently humbles me in my own chaos, and emphasizes the goodness and grace of God as a loving creator.”

The exhibit will open on Nov. 3 at 3024 Paseo with a reception during First Friday Gallery Walk from 6-9pm. We hope to see you there!

It's finally here! The Oklahoma State Fair Student Art Show is on display at the Paseo Arts & Creativity Center now through Aug. 25. It is a traveling exhibit featuring awarded artwork from Oklahoma students in grades Pre-K through 12.10 specially awarded pieces are on display at the PACC's back gallery before finishing its tour at the Oklahoma State Fair in September. Check out these great pieces today!
