along with co-founder and wife, Vanessa Morrison, wanted to change how people experience and access the barbershop space and culture. In 2014 they started this journey with a vision eliminating barriers, such as lack of transportation and mobility, that make it difficult for some people to get to the barbershop. Under their initiative, Cut it Forward, they organized product drives and hair cutting events for adults and children experiencing adversities. After interviews and research with barbershop patrons in the OKC community, they moved forward with their efforts and succeeded in initiating the legalization of mobile barbershops in the state of Oklahoma with support from the Oklahoma Cosmetology and Barbering Board. In 2015 they purchased a 1960 Airstream Landyacht and, with the support of many, were able to fund, restore, and transition their vintage trailer in to a full service, self-sustaining barbershop. They launched in July of 2017 as the first licensed mobile barbershop in Oklahoma. Bruce consistently supports the Oklahoma City community by being involved in community initiatives while using his profession as a barber as his platform to give back. Bruce has volunteered his barbering expertise to participants and residents in programs such as the Women’s Resource Center, Fresh Start Counseling, the Homeless Alliance, the Hair Arts Institute, Citizen’s Caring for Children, the YWCA, and more. En Root ran full-time for a year and positioned Bruce to open his storefront shop, Rooted Barber + Shop in OKC. The mobile is still serving communities today and is available for community and private events.
