A GREAT VALUE ON PANNIERS. TOURING, COMMUTING, BIKEPACKING--THESE ARE A MUST Being able to carry stuff on your bike is important, particularly if you are planning on commuting or doing loaded touring on or off paved roads. We just received a shipment of rear panniers that work great for any biking of this sort. And they are only $49.99! Jeez, I paid more than that to get a set of panniers before my tour through the British Isles and France 43 years ago! In the video below Andy tells about these bags.

FLAT ATTACK TIRE SEALANT--THIS STUFF IS AMAZING! When mountain biking became a reality in Oklahoma back in the 1980's the biggest problem was continual flat tires, mostly caused by the notorious "goatheads". I ran across a product called No Flats and it rapidly proved itself by keeping mountain bikers from buying tubes after every ride. Eventually an employee of that company started a new company and marketed a similar product called Slime. No Flats changed its name to Flat Attack and kept making an outstanding product. Most people call both sealants Slime but in our opinion Flat Attack is a bit better. Today we saw a remarkable example of just how good Flat Attack is. The bike in the video has hundreds of stickers in the tires but they are still holding pressure with no problem. Most of the stickers did not penetrate the tube but I pulled out several of them and the sealant plugged up the holes immediately. We put it in almost every mountain bike we sell. It works best in wider tires such as those found on mountain bikes and hybrids but we also have road bike tubes with their sealant. We highly reccommend it!

Just one more monarch butterfly post. On their migration to Mexico, monarchs have stopped in central Oklahoma to feed before continuing their southward journey. For more than a week now there have been four or more on the coreopsis wildflowers in front of my house. Earlier in the week there were also American lady butterflies which follow a similar but less well known migration route. They have now moved on but the monarchs are staying a bit longer. I'm sure many of you saw them while biking around the lakes or along the river today. Their presence underscores the need for more wildflower and milkweed along the migration route. Seeds can be ordered from okiesformonarchs.org. Please consider planting a patch to help these beautiful and endangered butterflies.
ANDY SUMS UP HIS 100 MILE RIDE AT HOTTER THAN HELL If you have been wondering how e-bikes do for distance this should be your answer. Andy was riding a NCM Moscow mountain bike with road tires. As he mentions in the video the battery still had two of six bars of power at the 70 mile mark and he very likely could have ridden the entire 100 miles (in around six hours) without switching to the second battery. This would have been unthinkable just three years ago. And to get that kind of range on an e-bike that sells for $1299...well, that is really amazing. NCM is showing just how completely practical e-bikes are!
