Christ. He came to show us How to be human. He came to show us the truest form Of Love. He died to show us That sin Is a human inability To meet expectations, It is a set up To fail Again and again. He came to show us The brutality Of shame. And he set us free from that Heavy, painful reality. Christ showed us what Love Truly is And created for us The possibility of redemption. Redemption lies In our ability To be Christ-like, To live to serve. To know that We Are Good. We were made that way. Redemption lies In our ability To see the Light And love in others Even when they don’t know It’s there. Especially when they don’t know It’s there. To be willing to be Crucified On the cross of our existence, On our experiences. When I encounter The broken, The abused, Even The abuser, I see them For the light they are. The pain they feel— Or cause— Is wrought from A blindness, A deeply-seated shame In their humanity. If only they knew how beautiful They are. Are they not created In God’s own image? From the very substance Of his Being? “Father, forgive them, For they know not What they do.”
