Okay … here it is! Six months later! No kidding… it took six months to do this! 🤯🥳

This was a deteriorated antique stove, covered in filth and rust - with oxidation eating holes in the metal. It was super nasty!! 🤢 Which is why I loved it so much! Nobody else wanted it, and I got it for free! 🥳

This piece would never be able to be a stove again, but it could make one heck of statement cabinet! It was scrubbed/degreased/cleaned for 3 weeks, then sanded, wire brushed, and cleaned again. All of the eroded metal was filled with two part epoxy (in multiple thin layers. The handles were sanded and sculpted with wood filler, then epoxied in place. The piece was primed, painted, with all those details gilded in Rustoleum gold enamel paint. My husband cut the wood for the top, and I stained it espresso to add a touch of warmth to the industrial aesthetic.

Metal was definitely new for me to work with, but stoves are now on my search list. I’d love to do one again! Take a look at the before/after… I’m pretty proud of this one! The only thing replaced was the wood top - everything else was original. 😊

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a while! I decided to take some much needed time off from social media and went back to school.

I’m usually one of those people that pushes myself too hard and has unrealistic/perfectionist expectations. This time around I’m going to try and be a bit more forgiving of imperfections, and give myself some latitude to change things up and paint for the sake of fun - no deadlines and no expectations. It’s okay if photos/finishes aren’t perfect, and it’s okay if I want to change up paints or styles.

I‘m excited to be back and look forward to this next chapter… hopefully a little wiser with more patience and perspective. Stay tuned: I’ll be sharing my latest project, which was definitely outside my comfort zone!

Sneak peek: I’m working on 2 new client projects at the moment- a computer armoire and this curio cabinet! 😍 This charming heirloom piece was inherited and needing a little updating to go with the decor of its new home.

Stay tuned to see the finished piece and the armoire before (soon).

Hi everyone! I’ve had a temporary leave due to some personal circumstances, but I’m glad to start working on projects again. I definitely missed it!

Officially done and available! This has been painted blackened bronze and champagne gold- with black and gold brocade overlay on the drawers and sides. The drawers were painted black on the inside- with bronze painted hardware.

This is my first decoupage piece, and it might be my last! 🤣 I’ll try it with paper next time, or an easier fabric! No one’s first try is ever perfect, so I’ll try and not be too critical, but I look forward to using easier materials next time- after a few projects that don’t involve me glueing things to myself! 🤦‍♀️ In any case, pm me if you’re interested. 😊

Sneak peek on the entry chest! So far, so good- at least for a first attempt at decoupage. 🤨 This is a gold and black brocade fabric on clearance at JoAnn. Granted, even on sale, it was pricey, but worth every penny! 😍

They’re not done yet- but a work in progress. The learning curve is steep on this one! 😆🤯

Photos from The Bottom Line Designs's post 08/21/2021

I haven’t forgotten about that giant blue hutch- it needs new shelves cut and some solutions to the drawers. I’m waiting for backup on that one! I’d hate to ruin the finish because I’m just “okay” at those things! 😵‍💫

In the mean time, this sad piece is on my to do list! The intended finish will be a first for me, but I mean - really- I could spray paint this hot pink, and it would be an improvement! 🤣 Stay tuned to see the transformation! 😁🥳

Now that the silver table is done, I wanted to circle back and share the finish on these tables. Quite a change from where it started!

The nail head trim was removed, filled, and smoothed. These were painted in SW Iron Ore with antique gold drawer frames, and linear highlights on all the molding. The hardware was painted to match the 2” antique brass ball casters. Those were not fun , btw! The locking casters had a plate to secure, not a pin, so I had to cut/sand/smooth all of them! 🤯 Not a bad find for $.89 each though! 🥳.

I skipped the casters on the coffee table for height reasons, but they gave just enough height for the side tables to be sofa height. 😅

I loved these so much, I decided to keep them! 😍

Like this finish? Message me for details on recreating it on a piece for your home. 😊

Officially done and back at home! This beauty was done in three shades of silver, contoured and glazed- highlighting those fantastic details! I love how this turned out! Such a change from before! 😍

Officially done and available for sale. You guys get dibs first.

These are painted in SW Iron Ore, gilded details, with a black hammered and grunge aesthetic k**b! Metallics are versatile- and I appreciate the bold and sleek statement these make! Definitely better than the distressed cottage blue! 😍

PM me if interested. Delivery available for a fee.

I’d like to introduce you to Big Ben! He’s a new acquisition - standing at 6’8” -Without the dollies! As if his size weren’t a statement alone- it’s a bar/liquor cabinet!!! I feel so short next to this!🤣

This marks my second clock project in the last few weeks, but this will be incredible (with a little TLC and imagination!) 🥳

Available for customization - shipping available. 😁

Photos from The Bottom Line Designs's post 07/28/2021

Gotta love a little grunge and glam! This hardware was a fun experiment since I totally messed up the original k**b! 🤯I’m grateful I did, otherwise this wouldn’t have happened. 😁The real test will be to see if I can do it again! 🤣 Check out the pics to see what I used and the before.

This hardware has a marbled and textured grunge aesthetic. These were primed, painted with black hammered spray paint, glazed gold, and sealed with satin clear enamel.

For the effect, I sprayed the k**b with Penetrol, then used a makeup sponge to dab onto the k**b. The Penetrol thinned and created a marbled effect, as the paint and extender stayed somewhat separated/not mixed. The textured effect occurred by heavily spraying the satin enamel- to the point where it puddled. As it dried, the saturated enamel developed this veining texture. The backplate was given a clean black/gold line -no glaze, just paint, and sealed lightly with satin enamel. This is part of a 3 pc table set that will be available for sale this weekend! 😍

No glove, no love baby! 🤣🤐😉 Check out what these gloves can do! 🥳😍

Fun tip today… layer a latex/nitrile glove with a cotton inspection glove, and turn your hand into a paint brush! 🥳 this is especially helpful for detail work! Thin, lint free, no impression in the paint- just ultra smooth! Be one with the paint! 😂

Super excited about this vintage grandfather clock display case/curio! Stunning details and molding! Brass capped columns!!! I’m in love! ❤️😍At some point I’ll add all my inventory online, but that requires people helping me move things, so that may wait a few weeks. In the meantime, this piece is available for refinishing. Message me from f you’re interested. You won’t find a piece like this often!

Photos from The Bottom Line Designs's post 07/15/2021

New project! This is a custom piece- to be given 3 shades of silver! 😍 Client work always comes first, so I’ll circle back to that table set once this one is done. Stay tuned to see the finished piece! 🥳

Photos from The Bottom Line Designs's post 07/11/2021

Happy Saturday! Officially done! This mirror was painted black and heavily gilded on all details for a striking finish! Quite a change from before! 😍

That said, I’ve taken a few weeks off from posting. Sometimes it’s good to take a step back and recalibrate. I’ve still been working projects- so I’ll be posting pics of what I finished and what I’m still working on. You get a sneak preview in the reflection. More to come! 😁🥳

06/22/2021

Y’all… I’m going to totally embrace smaller pieces going forward! I like details … it’s kinda my jam … but it takes forever on a 3 pc set… or a big hutch! Especially if doing all at the same time! 🤯😳

I’m a challenge accepted kinda gal, but I may have bitten off more than I can chew this time! 😣 On a positive note, if I can get through these before the end of the century, it’ll make the next few pieces seem like a cake walk! 🤣🥳

While a little slow going… I’m loving the super clean gold lines! They definitely highlight the details! 😍 Don’t worry, I cleaned off the smudge on the left. 😆

Photos from The Bottom Line Designs's post 06/17/2021

So… fun experience today! Not!! The casters I bought were supposed to fit completely on the bottom of the legs. I measured twice! In theory, they would fit. In reality… they don’t! 😣

I could either buy new ones… or make these work. My husband suggested using the Dremel to cut off the overhang. Great idea… but I’ll be here a while! 🤯

Better to cut/smooth and make sure it looks right though! Little things can make a big difference!

06/13/2021

All good things in layers… first blue, then glazed black, accents solid black… now on to gold. I totally plan on smudging/blending the edges of the doors/midsection to soften the transition between blue and black. Just not there yet, lol. Stay tuned for the update on those tables! I got my nail heads in! 🥳 Thanks for the support Christie! 😊

Photos from The Bottom Line Designs's post 06/12/2021

This is just a simple accent table, and while I mostly work with solid wood, sometimes we gotta work with what we’ve got! Even laminate needs a facelift! No matter the project, a little TLC can make all the difference!

Photos from The Bottom Line Designs's post 06/11/2021

I take no delight in stripping down a piece just to put paint on it. But that might be what happens here. 😢

I started cleaning this with diluted Dawn dish soap and water, and not only did dirt/age come off, but so did whatever finish was on it! Nothing I would put on this would have adhered, so no choice but to finish cleaning/stripping. 🤯 It’s taken days to strip this down to bare wood in all those details! Hence the reason I started on those tables! 🤣

This girl is finally ready to be refinished- although Now that it’s bare wood, I’ll try a white wash first and keep the grain visible. What do you think? A wash… or full coverage paint? Just FYI, The veneer is being painted too, there’s enough damage to it that I can’t keep it as is. So this can be a blank canvas! 😁 I definitely appreciate your input. 😊

Photos from The Bottom Line Designs's post 06/08/2021

I must be out of my mind, lol. 🤯🤣 I’m currently working on a 3 piece set and the massive hutch! And I just wrapped up an accent table. 🥳I’ll post updates on those soon, but I wanted to take the opportunity to share a few tutorials on those subjects. So I wanted to start prepping these.

This set is available for sale! A solid wood coffee table/end table set in need of fresh look! Challenge accepted! 😎

These will be painted Midnight Blue, with 2” antique brass locking ball casters installed on all legs to give them a little height. Of course with updated aged brass scrollwork drawer pulls. 😍

I have removed the flimsy nail head trim - it’s a chain with an actual nailhead every 5th head. I’m not fan😒, and will add some gold accents on all the details. I’m seriously considering adding a better nail head trim in antique brass. Could be fantastic… but also a giant pain! What do you think? Is it worth it?

06/06/2021

Sneak peek: this antique oak hutch is available for sale. 🥳 I’m currently prepping this piece. Super excited! And tired! It’s huge! And the former owners may have neglected it quite a bit, so there’s a lot of cleaning and so many details! 🤯 But she’ll be good as new soon enough! 😁

Photos from The Bottom Line Designs's post 06/05/2021

Wrapped up these tables for a friend. 🥳These were faux stained with chalk paint, gently distressed, and layered two toned- leaving a rustic warmth on the drawers/inset areas and darker transparent wash over the body. Legs and hardware painted bronze. 😍

These were supposed to be easy, but alas, they were not! 🤯They had a lot of rough spots and deep scratches, so I sanded down with 80 grit sandpaper, then sanded up 120 and 180- smoothing out the scratches from the previous grit with my orbital sander. Finished with a sanding block of fine grit sandpaper- gently sanding parallel to the grain to ensure there were no sanding/swirl marks. I wanted a smooth and consistent finish, so I preraised the grain before the final sanding with the block, and then water popped the grain an hour before applying the wash.

I’m ready for a nap now! 🤣😴

I may never buy sandpaper at Lowe’s/Home Depot again! I just paid $10 for 15 discs at Lowe’s! 🤦‍♀️ Amazon has 160 discs variety pack for $13.99! On sale now! Link below. Save your money where you can!

Happy Friday! I couldn’t help myself to post the video here. FB video playback isn’t a good as YT, but it’s still a great way to share a process and show how I got this look.

Plus, I have so much fun sharing the process of refinishing, since there can be so much that goes into it. Each piece has an inspiration and transformation story - some super intricate - and some simple and fun. I’ll be posting the sneak peek on my next project this weekend. It’ll be a rockin’ rustic set! 🥳

I’d like to introduce you to the Silver Sonata. A stunning solid metal desk with details galore, and I wanted to highlight all of them! 🤩

I’m refinishing a chair to match, and both will be picked up this Friday by their new owner! Sold before listed! 🥳

You can catch their full video recap on YouTube, showing their before and how I got this finish in less than 4 minutes! Outlining the steps and products along the way. It’s a fantastic transformation! I hope you’ll check it out and give it a thumbs up! 😁

Hi Everyone! Today I wanted to share some information on oil-based glazes. I have mostly used water-based glazes, but oil-based glazes are unique and are worth discussing.

They stick to just about anything and are incredibly durable (often don’t need a top coat). As a glaze, they sort of melt - creating a softer effect than water-based glazes. Plus, any glaze that sticks to almost surface and doesn’t need polyurethane is going to be one of my favorites! 🥳

This top is ragged in a metallic graphite glaze- and it took about 10 minutes to do. Easy to mix, apply, and get great results. 🥳

Channel link below, if you want to learn how I made this glaze. 😊
