Child-led play promotes language, self- esteem, creativity, and problem-solving skills; it is also more fun for children! Have your children explore toys while you are modeling language throughout play.”

This Wisdom Wednesday we are highlighting Desiree Rodriguez, M.S., CCC-SLP✨
"Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices are our friends! There are a variety of options for kiddos these days from visual core boards to iPads with speech output. A common myth is that individuals will become “too dependent” on the device, or it may stop someone from learning to speak. However, most research cites an increase of speech production, although a true consensus has not been formed within the speech and language community. As we grow and learn with varying types of technology and communication, it is important to remember that all types of communication are valid, including AAC.”
“Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations” - Dr. Mae Jemison
Today's advice from the Founder/CEO of Key Communication:
"It’s inevitable that you will make mistakes along the way, but it’s all about how you recover from them."
This week we are highlighting Kalissa Ochoa SLPA for Wisdom Wednesday✨
"Speech therapy is truly a work of the heart. Through our guidance, children not only find their voices but also discover the power of connection, unlocking doors to new friendships, opportunities, and self-belief. It is not just about words; it's about building bridges that span beyond speech sessions, shaping futures and igniting the spark of communication in every child.”
“When you have a dream, you’ve got to grab it and never let it go.” - Carol Burnett
Today's advice from the Founder/CEO of Key Communication:
"Don’t forget to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Take some time out from the practice and enjoy some “me time” to reset and recharge."

Welcome to Wisdom Wednesdays where our staff at Key Communication get a moment to share their wisdom and knowledge each week! This week we are highlighting Desiree Rodriguez, M.S., CCC-SLP✨
"All behavior is communication. In this field, we see a variety of communication techniques, not just verbal communication, such as ACC devices, written/visual, and nonverbal communication. I think it’s important to remember not everyone has the same communication style, but that doesn’t mean there’s a lack of communication. My SLP Wisdom for Wednesday is to try to attribute meaning to ALL language attempts, no matter the form of expression.”
"No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world." - Robin Williams
