National Gardening Exercise Day is observed annually on June 6th to encourage garden lovers to improve their physical fitness while gardening. Gardening alone is hard work that encourages the use of upper and lower extremity strength through activities such as raking, weeding, mowing, walking, and lifting.

Here are 4 helpful tips to maximize your fitness while gardening:

1. Use your left and right arms/sides equally while completing tasks
2. Practice deep breathing strategies (i.e. breathe in through your nose and breathe out through your mouth)
3. Practice good body mechanics - lift with your knees!
4. Stay hydrated!

Enjoy your garden and get your fitness on!

Did you know plants lose a significant amount of water through the tiny holes on their leaves called the stomata? Apart from watering the plant, humidity (the quantity of water held in the air) is very important to the health of your plants. It's important to monitor the relative humidity (RH) level in your grow tent.

Check out our latest blog post to discover the importance of relative humidity and how to raise the humidity in your grow tent.

Memorial Day 2021

Tried and true gardener tip: Plant marigolds and other companion plants to prevent pests. Marigolds are amazing plants that are strongly scented and are great at discouraging some insect pests.

Another amazing benefit of Marigolds are directly in their roots. They discourage soil nematodes and soil pests that destroy the roots of your plants before they even begin to fruit. When soil nematodes abound in your soil, yields suffer and get worse each year. Marigolds of the tagete species discourage soil nematodes and cleanse the soil.
