Technology helps actor hear musical theater's 'Beauty' Hearing impaired since birth, Laura Pratesi's love of musicals shines bright. She stars as Belle in Moonlight Players' "Beauty and the Beast."

Meet the cast of Beauty and the Beast:
Laura Bradley Pratesi (Belle/Babette) is thrilled to be playing two of her dream roles. Laura is a hard of hearing actress and bilateral hearing aid user. By day, she is an audiologist and advocate for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. You may have previously seen Laura at Moonlight as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady or Lilli Vanessi in Kiss Me, Kate. Other favorite roles include: Annie Oakley (Annie Get Your Gun), Cinderella (Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella), Peter Pan (Peter Pan), Maria (The Sound of Music), Marian Parroo (The Music Man), Gertrude McFuzz (Seussical the Musical), Dorothy Gale (The Wizard of Oz). Love to her husband, William, and her son, James. “Princesses can wear hearing aids too!”

I’ll be playing Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Moonlight Players Theatre! Show runs March 1st-24th. It’s double cast, so the following performances are when I will be playing Belle (the other performances you can see me as Babette):

That one time when I did a murder mystery dinner theatre where I played Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, then later got to model for this painting by Martin Pate.

I had always wanted to play in a show with British accents, and I finally got the chance with And Then There Were None. My favorite play written by Agatha Christie, who also happens to be one of my favorite authors. I got the chance to see her play, The Mousetrap on Drury Lane in London back in 2005. It's the longest running production in the world!
