Total Solar Eclipse 2024
🌘🌞 Today is a great opportunity to get kids excited about space and science as we will experience the rare occurrence of a total solar eclipse! 🌘🌞 A solar eclipse happens when, at just the right moment, the Moon passes between the sun and Earth. In a total solar eclipse, the moon completely covers the sun, and the sky becomes dark. People in the path of totality, where the moon's shadow falls, can see the sun's outer atmosphere, called the corona. Orange County will see a Partial Solar Eclipse: Begins: 1:46 pm Max View: 3:03 pm Ends: 4:17 pm Duration: 2 hours, 31 minutes The next total solar eclipse won't be visible in North America until 2044! πŸ–₯ Use this fun video to teach children about the solar eclipse: bit.ly/3J75ODP πŸ“š Enjoy this read along: Total Solar Eclipse: A Stellar Friendship Story: bit.ly/3J8D2Tq πŸŒ‘ Watch the total solar eclipse live: science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2024/ ‼️ Safety first! πŸ•Ά Observing eclipses requires proper precautions. Use safe solar viewing glasses that have the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 12312-2 code on the inside or indirect viewing methods to protect your eyes.
