Hey Fellas! I’m working with Austin Ricci (current HC) about best timing for this years Alumni weekend, best ways to reach us old guys now that a lot of us don’t have or check social media as much anymore, events to do that weekend, etc.

November 10th weekend is the tentative date we’re thinking about doing. Would look something like:

Friday: Alumni vs Current team scrimmage, food/drinks after

Saturday: Tailgate, Biggest home game of year against Oklahoma State

Sunday: Golf tournament to raise money for the team

I didn’t know this but the team is still feeling the the effects of COVID policies the school had put into place cutting seasons short and ending then all together. Funding was slashed, players were not able to play for 1-2 seasons so went elsewhere so there is still a lot of rebuilding going on and as Alumni I believe we should be doing our part to help build this program back and develop a real Alumni network.

I’ll post this on other platforms as needed, but any feedback on that tentative schedule is appreciated.

P.S. We can’t play the game Saturday morning before the football game on campus. Campus is shut down for the game only.

Hey Fellas,

Just got confirmation from the UCF coach, Austin Ricci, the alumni game is October 23rd at 2 pm at the IM Turf fields. The UCF team is putting on a tailgate for the Memphis home game the day before (the 22nd) for us to meet and greet with alumni and team. Location for tailgate is TBD.

Finally UCF plays UF at 1 pm on Sunday the day after that the team would really appreciate support from the alumni to cheer them on.

Start airing our your stinky pads in the attic and spread the word to the alumni that may not be on this page or monitor this to let them know. Let’s have a good showing this year.

Benjamin Jared Schwartz Funeral Service

Hi fellow UCF lacrosse alumni,

It is with a heavy heart that I am here to inform everyone a former teammate, friend, and part of the Knight family forever, Ben Schwartz, has passed away. If you had to opportunity to know and hangout with Ben you would know, both on and off the field, his energy and enthusiasm were infectious and unmatched. He loved the game of lacrosse, and he loved being a UCF Knight.

Ben played 4 years at UCF in the same 4 years as myself, 2008 to 2012. Always smiling, cracking jokes, and bringing a positive outlook throughout our time playing together.

His family was always there to support Ben, and one of the fondest memories from them was the time his mom branded Gatorade bottles on Ben’s birthday, with a picture of his face, dubbed “Benorade”. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this diifcult time.

I’m working with the current team to do something over this years alumni weekend in Ben’s honor, I will provide updates as we know more, but in the meantime below is a GoFundMe started by his San Francisco Lacrosse club team to help with unexpected funeral expenses.
